Will, still loving the content, even though I only drop in once in a blue moon, 🌙 thanks for keeping it real, not click bait and drama based. Life simply isn’t like that… Happy New Year. You really exemplify what I call, ‘the gentle life’, no drama, no nonsense, just a happier, simpler way of life…just like it used to be 50 years ago.
Thank you so much for all your help and great comments. I was shocked at the wasteful nature of people around Christmas. Mountains of rubbish from gift wrapped presents that could easily be put in a bag all the packaging. Omg. Bring back life 50 years ago when an orange and apple were prized. In brown paper and string.
Great vlog Will, love the maintenence type content and the diy. Great to hear you are moving up to the present day with your vlogs fella. The weather's crap just now, but have a good Sunday eh.
Good morning Will from Bermuda! It’s now 5:30 am on January 5 and I’m just watching you now on television. Happy New Year to you and all the best . Dirty 👍
Good morning Will, Thanks for another interesting vlog, just a light dusting of snow this morning, turning to rain now, here in the south east. I expect it is far worse where you are, filthy thumbs up, cheers.
Morning Will on a cold and snowy morning ❄️. I hope your diesel heater is helping keep you warm ♨️ Another really interesting vlog, love seeing you solve different life issues, you are really talented. Lovely to see beautiful Lottie too. Keep safe and warm 😊🤙
Morning Sue. It is bitter out there. I'm snowed in today. Very icy winds. My fires on full blast. Luckily I picked up coal yesterday. Have a good day. 👍
Hi Will. Boat moved. 😅 Pin come out just pull boat back and remind why move both pins and boat lol 😅 Great to see you fixing stuff I hate being beaten like you were great try though I really thought you'd do it. Nothings cheap these days. Money crazy these days. Food going up 4% soon too. All the best Kev the brinklow kayaker 😂
Apparently, my boat was across the canal. Some kind soul pulled it back in. I hate being beaten. Sometimes, it's best to put my hands up and let somebody else have a go at fixing it. Keep warm kev. 👍
Good morning will, you win some you lose some, but we put it all down to experience mate, you are still in good health and long May it continue, I miss fixing all my mechanical issues, but age has caught up with me now mate and it is so expensive at garages now. Always nice to see you keeping your hand in will. I can see how proud you are of your grandkids and family, what a lovely little chap your grandson is, anyway mate you take care and be safe sending you big hugs from big John xx
It turned out to be to expensive to repair. The previous owners said it was working. I love getting stuck into jobs like this. I've just fitted a starter motor. Tucked right at the back of my engine. A big job in the end. Stay tuned for that. Take care and keep warm.
@ I allways whatch will, maybe don’t comment so much but in the background mate👍2deg in Boston at the moment says Alexa rising to 9deg,I moved into rural Lincolnshire 2015,wife’s vascular dementia is slowly progressing ,53 yrs together this year, love Glynis just as much today as I did the day I met her. Morning Will. Chilly isn't it! Read the comments, your heater diy created a lot of interest. Heating is a necessity, especially in Summer...😂😂😂. Bad news about the Bridgewater. I remember the last breach in 70's. Hope Peel do repair it, going to be many £millions and probably take three years. I see Taylors are stuck there, young Josh has put out some god aerial coverage. All the best. Paul. 👍👍
Great vlog again 👍🏻 Mc Will Testing 1,2 1,2 🎤😂 Next time you’re tinkering with something and struggling you need to do a cheeky Live video because I bet there’s someone shouting at the screen saying it’s there Will 😂😂🎧👊🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hope Liam managed to get his heater going soon. Nice work on the van will 😊 some that moved your boat Should have left you a message or something back What a cheek.😮
That type of heater has something called a sail switch. It's a toggle switch with a long thin and flat strip of steel. It flutters to the on connection when the air flow is enough. Sometimes a bit of lint gets in the gubbins. You just pull it out with tweezers. Only problem, it's inside the rotary fan housing.
Some of the cruisers really don’t like us narrowboaters, could be that they didn’t want one opposite. we’ve had this attitude towards us in the past. I’d be fuming 😅
Hello, you wonderful people. I do get angry, but it's not my anger it's theirs. That's the difference for me. They are not nice people and they have to live with it. I try not to let their bad day be my bad day. Some people just hate anybody who's doing OK. How can anybody hate you guys? You're such nice people. ☺️
Oh dear Will , hope leon gets his heater working again , they can be a real pain sometimes , i used to hate it when we had to use the hireboat heater & it was windy as well , if you had the kitchen window open it used to blow back inside , & it used to smell aweful .
Apparently, these propex gas heaters use a lot of gas. Gas used to be cheap. Not anymore. We decided to get something else. Thanks for stopping by Lori..
Changed all my brake hoses, discs, calipers, pads, guide pins etc on my Toyota Corolla I've owned from new for 20 years, I could have refurbished the calipers but I found such a good deal on new ones it wasn't worth my time and it's a messy old job. The car doesn't get driven a lot which braking systems of course don't like. My MOT is on Wed, hopefully it should go through, last year only the brakes binding a bit were noted. Hope yours went through with no issues. Thanks for the vid
Good for you for keeping an old car on the roard. New cars are overly complex and unreliable. Good luck with your Mot. Stay tuned to see if mine passed..
Unlike your diesel heater which vents the combustion gases up a flue, this Propex heater seems not to have a separate combustion gas exit, but mixes them with the heated air outlet. I think there is a risk of Carbon Monoxide poisoning and I would want a CO detector in the living area as a minimum.
The thing on the gas jet. Is a solenoid coil. They can burn out. So no gas flow. As it is trying to ignite would make me think that it is happy with airflow ect. But if no gas is getting through then no flame ignition. Check the coil with an ohm meter
I was a drunken plumber and pipefitter in a pub a time or a dozen, and damn I like that screwdriver teflon tape trick. Going to add that to my shrinking arsenal.... we always make up our pipe joints with tape first and then a light coat of paste dope (thread sealant) on top of that. Just a different technique... I used to work on oil burning furnaces way back when that used a similar set of electrodes for ignition- the gap was critical but so also was the voltage to create the spark, they had a whopping big transformer that created something like a stupid high 10,000 volts... I'm sure you've sorted it out by now, but one thing I wondered was if all the air was purged in the line from the tank to the unit, but you did mention smelling gas... armchair mechanic at your service, my bill is in the mail! 😂
😂 🤣 it was something on the circuit board. Apparently. It would've cost about £300 to repair. I've also heard these Propex heaters use a lot of gas. Gas here in the UK is very expensive. Thanks for your interesting comment. 👍
There is valve in the bit you were blowing through the electro magnet the black item you obviously removed with the two wires on it causes it to lift allowing gas to flow it might be burnt out. How I understand it is for saftey reasons if power is lost & fan stops. It shuts the gas off. Heater also may have a thermocouple.
It turned out to be the pcb. It was too expensive to fix. Also, waiting for repairs wasn't an option, really. We got a diesel heater for £60. It's working now in minus 5 degrees.
@@NarrowboatWill I did think pcb after I left my comment as you did say it got warm then went out so solenoid must have worked & it's the pcb that controls it.
Shame about Leon's boat, it seemed ok when the people were showing him round. He might need to strip all that old carpet out to get rid of the doggy odour. Most of the GRP boats that came into our yard had leaks or electrical faults, usually both! I hope Leon gets his boat sorted and can enjoy the summer ... if we get one! 😄 He's lucky having a dad like you Will
My boat had 2 leaks in the heavy rains. One over the fire. So that was constantly dripping and sizzling and the other a redundant air vent in my heater cupboard. We boaters are very leaky.. 😂 🤣
@@NarrowboatWillmy room has a very leaky window. I've put a bucket underneath it to catch the drips but the dripping noise was so bad I couldn't sleep so I stuffed an old pair of socks in the bucket. Did the trick! Really hard to detect where it's coming in too

No contest, diesel heaters are easy to fit....my missus has fitted two into each of our campers and she's due to fit a third into a friend's camper as soon as the weather improves.
I use to drive an 18 wheeler, and almost all of the trucks used those diesel heaters to heat the sleepers (sleeping compartment). We were always having problems with them. I have no idea what the service department had to do to get them working, but it shouldn't have been an issue. Those heaters have been around long enough for the manufacturers to have worked out the bugs. It's just the world we live in. Nothing is expected to last for more than a year or so.

Igniter mis adjustment, failed circuit board, low gas --- 1 red flash on propex heater.
It's a failed circuit board. To expensive to repair. It's fairly new as well. Shame.
My only theory is your trying to light it with full throttle on the fan maybe try it on. a lower setting then advance it after it gets going
I tried it on all settings. There's something gone on the circuit board apparently. To expensive to repair.
Sounds like the flame failure device isn’t working (thermocouple) should be a really cheap fix

Do you spend £X on repairing the gas heater or £80 on a new diesel heater......no brainer really
Exactly. I think we were quoted £300.
No contest, diesel heaters are easy to fit....my missus has fitted two into each of our campers and she's due to fit a third into a friend's camper as soon as the weather improves.
@lesstoneuk That's the plan..Stay tuned.
They're very expensive to buy and they use a lot of gas. Get rid and get a cheap diesel heater. 👍
