    I had always considered Azure Front door to be a suite of things already available in azure and ignored it only for the biggest projects, but this gives a slightly different perspective! Thank you John again for making the product easy to consume!

    I was recently asked to spin up Azure Front Door for one of our services, and I just couldn't figure out why it wouldn't spin down, and delete easily. As always your videos are so in-depth that now I understand what Actually Front Door is, and its actually got me thinking that we are not using it, in its best capability. :) Thank you.

    Another great video John. Having discussions with what Front Door Is! I’ve had discussion on whether it’s a CDN, a DDoS protection service, etc - basically trying to do a comparison with AKAMAI CDN & services. This has helped a lot of understanding. 👍

      @@NTFAQGuy my understanding is that similar to AKAMAi, FD can do CDN, WAF protection similar to AKAMAI just depends what and how much you want to pay for the different services. 👍👍

    Hey John! I've been watching your channel for quite some time and I am constantly pointing it out to new Engineers looking to get caught up to speed with Azure concepts. From the perspective of someone who has used the Front Door service, do you have any comments on it's availability? I know from service health it has taken a lot of outages this year.

    John thanks for a great intro. Have you used it for a production? The product does not garantee SLA yet. The quetion is: Is it risky to use it? Thnx

    • @NTFAQGuy

      There is an SLA. azure.microsoft.com/en-us/support/legal/sla/summary/

      @@NTFAQGuy Thnx for the reply. You were mainly presenting Front Door Standard/Premium (Preview) as the future. I meant that for this future product is no SLA. The current production-ready version of the Front Door has SLA. Am I right? Thnx

    I've a question about the V1 AFD.
    Is it normal that a rule engine is applied even if it's not associated with routing rules ?
    Thanks in advance

    • @hkmb777
      @hkmb777 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rules engine is independent of routing rules and is not enabled by default.

    In the case where you are combining App GW and AFD, do you have to choose where SSL offload, cookie based affinity, etc is done? What are the considerations there and how/where is it done?

    • @NTFAQGuy
      @NTFAQGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Commonly need both especially think about things like affinity, you need affinity to the right regional solutions and THEN to the actual backend instance. Docs talk about the various other combinations.

    Could the split tcp and / or caching apply to a websocket connection? I have a game service that requests 1000s of smaller static assets at a time, and I've found doing that many GET requests in a row is just much slower, however I've not yet found a way to cache these assets on the edge when they get requested via websockets.
    Thanks for any insight.

    • @NTFAQGuy
      @NTFAQGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      AFD does not support websockets.

    • @Perfectphase
      @Perfectphase 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does support HTTP/2 though, which does support multiplexing and concurrency for the type of thing you're doing. The HTTP2 part will terminate at front door and HTTP/1.1 will be used to the orign, but as they are now just HTTP calls you'll benifit from Cache/CDN support, and the slower client to FD part will be much faster.
