I worked with Mark for several years, including these books featured here. Mark is a great artist. The way some of the pages were done might surprise you. Overall, a good critique.
This is so good. I love this channel. You choose my favourites from a pocket of time when I was a major fanboy. Thank you! And the real pages means a lot. Very authentic and tactile. ❤❤❤
It's absolutely bonkers that I picked up the half face issue a few weeks ago. The art grabbed me right away. It's been a lot of fun going into the bins as finding comics, plentiful or not, that resonate with both me and many of the other kayfabers, but to find that based on the feeling of it first.
Oooh, I've been waiting for this one! I had forgotten about the Sabertooth miniseries. Great way to showcase Tex's unique art style. He also did a run on Nightbreed, iirc, where all the pages were painted. That might be worth tracking down.
Mark Texteria use to draw squat and tall Wolverines, messy, inky figures and women with huge butts with skinny waists. He was a drastic contrast to the clean, metallic IMAGE guys. Wish he had done more work.
wow! this is proper virtuoso stuff. I see Sienkiewicz - Kieth - Lee (Jae and Jim) with lots of expressionist/classical influence...solid AF. I would have never bought this when it came out, either. I missed out on some good art there.
Great episode fellas! Glad you mentioned Tex early work on MOTU & that Mile High Comics in Anaheim was my shop for a while & grew up in the area. Used to run into Rob & the Extreme Studios guys out & about back then
Everyone has that special comic that they read a thousand times as a kid. Mine was Wolverine #62, it was drawn by Tex and to this day is the most gorgeous issue of Wolverine I've ever seen. Wolverine and Sabretooth were drawn like chiseled out slabs of granite. I still pull that bad boy out at least once a year.
TEX has a Wolverine comic, it was a very cool number, I remember it well, wolverine maverick and saberthoot, for me when I was young the tex type of art was the best. I consider it within the type of art of jae lee.
Yeah! Eu tenho essa edição especial!! O estilo do TEX foi definitivo para estabelecer o cânon do SABER! ASSIM COMO MINHA ARTE E PERSONAGENS! EXCELLENT LEMBRANÇA! E MASTERWORK!
I remember the first comic I had by Tex was Megalith #3, it may have been the only painted issue but it was wild. Plot may have been jank (I can't recall) but man...I had no idea you could make a comic look like that. I don't know if you guys checked that out. Art-wise it's probably typical 90s jank, awesome looking pictures of inconsistent character models. Or maybe I just got shit taste.

Always loved the artwork on this series!!!!
Mark Texteria and Jae Lee were the innovators of the “Demonic” and “splatter” style nuff said! I bought these brand new at the time🤘🏼
I have it autographed with certificate. It’s still worth jack shit though. Lol
Sabretooth is a very underated character
Mark Tex Ghost Rider comics from the 90's, specifically issue #13 and #7 were my first Marvel comics I brought. Tex was the reason. LOVE HIM!!
"That's a car transmission!" 🤣🤣🤣
I've owned the comics since they were first released, and tomorrow I'll have the Wolverine Vol. 4 Omnibus with all of them in it! I can't wait!
Perhaps my favorite arc! If you guys dig this you should check out wolverine 66-67-68, came out immediately prior, same creative team of tex and hama

Little moments like Ed saying "that shit cray." after Jim mentions Paris is why I love this show.
This wil be included in the Wolverine omnbus vol. 4. I'm looking forward to reed it 😊
Y'all did an ep on Tex!!! The man that got me into comics. That Ghost Rider crossover with Spiderman and Hobgoblin kicked this shit off. Kudos
Just saw issue 4 while diving yesterday. Kicking myself for not scooping it up.
Fab vid !! I LOVED Texeira art in the 90s ! His Wolverine / Sabretooth / Punisher are classics
9'30 I always thought Sabretooth looked like a mix of Clint Eastwood and Schwarzenegger!
Oooh, I've been waiting for this one!

I love how his outlaw-esque art graced the pages of mainstream comics.
my ALL time favorite artist, hands down!
You should check Tex's Spider-Man: Legacy of Evil. All painted and amazing.
Finally, ya got Mark Texiera on Cartoonists Kayfabe. Great job, gentlemen!
Tex also did two issues of Pantha fully painted covers and interiors, was released over the course of 4 issues of vampirella

Love this issue! Had a major impact on me as a kid!

Went to that mile high once on a disneyland trip. Paid too much for a judge dredd comic and some cards
I absolutely remember that scene in "No Holds Barred"
Tex Tooth was the dankest, most iconic Sabretooth of all time.

What is that book that shows the Marvel method and the bullpen?
My favorite era ; now alas everything current is drawn Boorish once again….
I loved this story, this is where you find out Sabertooth and Mystique had a kid...
Yooo, I had all these when I was a kid and loved how gnarly the art was! Someone ripped them off of me though, what a shame.
Still remember to this day that grenade in French is grenade.
Yeah! Eu tenho essa edição especial!!

homage to Blade Runner in issue 1
I just watched a Spanish language interview with texiera and it was pronounced the tex way (thank god)
