I find it very interesting that the narrator tends to place the "accent" on the first syllable of some words (e.g., PO-lice-man). I spent some time in England, Ireland, & Scotland and I have not ever heard her strange accent. However, it does sound "foreign" to my American ear.
The organization uploading the video is based in India. It could be Indian, but I think it is possibly a machine voice. Some of the pronunciations take quite a bit of 'second listening' to work out the words.
I agree, it's not a pleasant voice to hear. It sounds like a computer generated voice and I really can't listen to it. This same voice also reads Agatha Christie stories on another channel too unfortunately. It's difficult to find a good story read by someone who has a pleasant voice.
