Missed a prime opportunity to open with the old, "Oh, I didn't see there." I think that rolling from down back, to down forward is the same way you can low parry King's Stagger Kicks after you've held down back to block one. I can inconsistently do that in practice, have yet to do that in an actual match.

Chains of misery is much easier then this for some reason. I never mess that up but I do mess up northern cross sometimes. Thats because you don't need to do db for chains of misery. you can just do qcf,d,df,1+2 and it comes out.
Feng's is a bit different. I might make a video tutorial on this later. Paul, Dragunov, Feng those guys have a different roll dash than Bryan. Bryan is a special boy.
@@PeterYMao That would be amazing! Maybe a trick of sorts that you use, if you so happen to play one of these characters. I can do it fairly easy on 2P side with Feng, but 1P side is a bit choppy. That up motion kills me.

It also works with just inputting d, df to get into his snake dash instead of a full qcf input, though from my experience using this method you gotta cancel it with db

I kinda struggled to find many sources about Marduk tbh. Just one question- if Im a medicore player (Marduk Vanquisher, Asuka Vindicator) do you think it's a good choice? Because I keep hearing he is the most difficult character to learn, actually.
The thing that makes Bryan difficult in some ways is that you need to be able to do qcf and qcb motions. Also he is a sway character so your KBD has to be on point. Also, his pokes like Marduk's are generally minus on block and he loses his turn. The trick is to stagger your pressure and the pressure comes in the form of mind games with whether a string will be finished or not. If you play Marduk, just think of Bryan as a mid range Marduk with worse throw game and no tackle.

@@PeterYMao my bad i had written qcb and i was talking about qcf when i want to do the fc grab i just do d,d/f after qcf instead of using cancel animation with practice you just have to do d , d/f (for the qcf stance) , d , d/f 1+2 maybe it's useless but i use it to do the command grab more quickly
To be honest.. I can't think of anything really off the top of my head. I would like certain attacks to be fixed so they are more consistent. The main attack is qcb+4. I need this attack to hit way more consistently than it already does because I have whiffed it too many times.
Err... Bryan is so unique that there isn't a character quite like him. Closest one might be Noctis because he wants to be played at the mid range as well.
Are you looking for something in terms of same level of technicality or do you want a break from complex inputs and do easy shit? if you want to do easy shit noctis might do as peter said. I personally play Kazumi and bryan. Kazumi when I want to do in your face fast poking and easy inputs for key stuff and Bryan when I want to play keepout, counter hit and low/tackle crush game with orbital. I would recommend Julia too...she is stronger than bryan cuz she has a lot of mini mixups and like bryan she has two safe counter hit mids, b1 and uf1, and she has a lot of strings that counter hit too. Julia also has a 10 frame counter hit string like bryan 12,4...hers is 1,1,1 and its actually a breeze to hitconfirm it unlike bryan.
Hey peter, I was wondering how you practice iNC, I'm trying to practice the motion slowly but how will I know if I performed iNC properly/quickly? also thanks again for another great tutorial
1) You will see that Bryan instantly stops the roll dash. This means you canceled the qcf quickly, good! 2) You barely see the northern cross duck come out. This means you input the b, d/b, d, d/f fast, good! Those are the only 2 requirements. You don't have to do it in a combo or anything, just that you did it quickly and you don't see the duck. Compare it to your regular duck into d/f+4. This should give you an idea you're doing it right.

I don't really have a 2nd main. I play some side characters (Feng, Jack, Kazumi, Law, Paul, Zafina), but I wouldn't call them my 2nd main. Personally if you like playing Bryan you might like Marduk or Steve because they also have great counter hit stuff. But the character that plays most like Bryan might be Noctis since Noctis likes to play at the mid range just like Bryan.

If you want to practice this move you can do the fisherman slam into instant northern cross. If you do it fast enough it will combo, too slow and it will whiff.
No, but it really helps with the timing because you need at least 6-7 frames of crouching before you are considered full crouch. Hence you have 6 inputs d - d/f - f - d/b - d - d/f this is to help you time it so every time you get it consistently.

If u input D but for crouch not for wavu, then df db df it would do the instant without the need to have a D in between so the over all input is like D (not for wavu) df db df (4 or 21) And it does it instantly and it works and much easier to execute, idk why it works too. The reason your method works is because somewhere you have an extra frame of crouching. Your method if done too fast will not work. This is why I made a whole video on how to do full crouch attacks with Bryan. The method I detail in the video is the best method. There's no need to reinvent the wheel.

Sidestepping King at range 0 at the wall is very hard because d/f+1 is very good tracking both ways. You will have to find an opening and poke your way out.

Hey, trying ifc df4 again, and just thought about how do I actually find out that it's actually ifc df4 and not fc df4? Is there an easy method like a combo or whatever to find out?
cant tell you how many turns i steal with this move in lower ranks (orange / yellow) because opponents love to use highs after blocking. I get away with murder sometimes with this move. I will be sad when this is no longer a thing for me in higher ranks.
Eventually players will start to use more mids in the higher ranks. I can't say for certain because it depends on the opponent, but it'll be something to watch out for xD
It does however if you do it from crouch dash it is more telegraphed. It is easy to see for the opponent. If you do instant full crouch for chains it becomes incredibly hard to see.

Northern Cross in neutral is very strong considering that it high crushes. With jabs being so prevalent as well as magic 4s and electrics. Northern cross is a very important tool.
qcf b2 mash mash mash FISHERMAN FISHERHOOK!!! This technique is especially helpful with dragunov his wallbounce i16 long range safe mid kick(iam not gonna sell it more) can be accessed pretty easily like this
DPad seems insanely hard to me Then I tried keyboard for curiosity and it was insta success first try. Literally just d(hold)fbf 4 The same happened when I was learning KBD, I'm dying on dpad, then I try on keyboard its a breeze. I regret not playing on keyboard from the get go, reinstalling that muscle memory will take a long time
It won't work consistently every time because of how full crouch works. You need I believe 6 frames of crouch in order to be considered full crouch. So if you input ↙⬇↘ to fast you won't get northern cross.
Peter with the tech D: and such a clean, well paced video too. So does this method work with every roll dash character like Paul? Or even other stance/ movements? Thinking about wavu or Lee’s mist step.

For the FC grab you just have to do another QCF and make the command for the grab with the previous qcf and it work

You can also do instant Chains of Misery by doing qcf d df 1+2
It's slower to do qcf, d, d/f+1+2 because you will see the full animation of the qcf play before the throw.

Katarina you can not cancel her crouch dash I believe so this method does not work.

All the other characters are a little different from Bryan. Feng, Paul, Drag have to do a different input to cancel their roll dash.
I do the one from back cancel already. The downback one gives me issue. Wanna do that cuz its a frame faster. Maybe cuz I am on d-pad.

Hey, trying ifc df4 again, and just thought about how do I actually find out that it's actually ifc df4 and not fc df4?
Is there an easy method like a combo or whatever to find out?

How to do that double taunt to instant northern cross?
taunt, forward, taunt, and then instant northern cross
cant tell you how many turns i steal with this move in lower ranks (orange / yellow) because opponents love to use highs after blocking. I get away with murder sometimes with this move. I will be sad when this is no longer a thing for me in higher ranks.
Eventually players will start to use more mids in the higher ranks. I can't say for certain because it depends on the opponent, but it'll be something to watch out for xD
Ifcdf4 works even in top tier you see jimmy use it at times

Yes. If you didn't buy DLC you can still fight against DLC
but does this work for Raven's Quicksand catastrophe?
unfortunately Raven's qcf doesn't work with any of this because it can not be canceled.

It does however if you do it from crouch dash it is more telegraphed. It is easy to see for the opponent. If you do instant full crouch for chains it becomes incredibly hard to see.

Only for flashy combos. FC D/F+2,1 the 2nd hit is duckable if the 1st hit is blocked.

You won't see fast Northern Crosses until you get to the higher ranks... most likely... Purple or Royal Blue is my guess.

for me personally, i just do half circle forward twice fast, but only do up to DF on the 2nd HCF input then 4, same goes for FC DF21

Im doing qcb db df2,1 to do the instant fc2,1 and its pretty fast and consistent, is this worse than qcf b/db df 2,1?

I'll make a follow up for this, but this method is for Bryan. Other characters with roll dashes can do it too, but differently.

You can do that as well with Bryan. But most people just find that qcf is easier.

Fisherman is from WS not from full crouch, so it doesn't work quite the same.

i neither anyone ive came across use north cross consistantly in neutral...i think iv'e met like 2 people throughout the years of playing
Northern Cross in neutral is very strong considering that it high crushes. With jabs being so prevalent as well as magic 4s and electrics. Northern cross is a very important tool.

The same happened when I was learning KBD, I'm dying on dpad, then I try on keyboard its a breeze.

It won't work consistently every time because of how full crouch works. You need I believe 6 frames of crouch in order to be considered full crouch. So if you input ↙⬇↘ to fast you won't get northern cross.
