Overall that component decrease attributed to a 2% decrease for the entire CPI. New car prices according to the CPI have gone down 4%. How? Because the CPI uses a base year and then takes into account the improvements in the vehicle. Let's say a 2020 truck. It costs 10% more but the improvements in a 2024 truck is 15%, thus a 5% decrease. Housing inflation is not based on the cost of a home, it's based rent to a 50,000 person survey. To 1/3 of a survey is sent to actual homeowners who are asked what would the rent be if you rented your home. Those 50,000 come out to 1 per 6,000 people. Btw,taxes are not included either.

The Chinese economy caused some of the issues with fuel prices but demand is now falling because the Chinese markets are on the down turn. The U.S. doesn't have the capacity needed to process the oil we drill because companies don't want to invest in refineries because they fear what Democrat green energy policies could do to their bottom line. That has more to do with energy independence than how much oil is produced. You will not hear much about refinery capacity and why it's not being increased. They have actually reduced refinery capacity because companies don't want to spend money on the upgrades needed to keep things running because they don't want to risk capital due to politics.
