Unfortunate but the changing weather and manpower shortages is probably wreaking havoc on many plans. And pricing especially in touristy areas are ghastly. Note: my Southern Portugal tour was actually supposed to end in Normandy, France but I had bashed my toes the night before I left. Two days into my ride, I noticed the healing process took a toll on my endurance getting to Evora, so I took extra rest days, visiting historic sites, ate well, and decided northern Europe would happen another time taking a que from my reading of antarctic explorers and Everest climbers. You can always come back another time.
Not problem. Enjoy the winter to your flat or house, and then in spring you started again. Is also bike touring. Is not a must to be in touring 2-3 years. Have a good winter time with frends and familiy.
Feel bad for the way the trip ended. But it is better to be flexible and mould into situations, rather than be adamant and go through agony. Again it is your trip that you have to enjoy. Sharing it on TH-cam gives us the privilege of experiencing that what you go through. There'll be people who will say, wear jackets continue, but they are neither riding, nor experiencing what you go through. You've made the right decision. What I will miss the wonderful storytelling that you have. ATB, That Travelling Guy...
I really enjoyed following your travels - thank you for all your effort in posting the vlogs. You had a most unfortunate end to this trip, but I suspect you will look back at it in a better light through the passing of time . I look forward to following you again in the future - next spring maybe!? Meanwhile; best wishes you you both, and thank you again.
I watched all the videos. What an amazing adventure. You both are a great and lovely couple. I really enjoyed watching it. You should do a little trip to The Netherlands:). We have some beautiful nature here also. Anyway...take care and love and greetings from Holland.
Excellent video series and website, it has proved to be very useful to me, as I will do a similar tour, but instead northwards from Faro. Some really interesting things stuck out for me during this trip, and I hope you can accept as constructive :) 1) Have you done bike touring before? If so, where, how long? I ask, because your videos show that you engaged in a very ambitious plan, and Portugal seemed quite tough :( 2) Time of year: I am planning my tour late Feb early March, specifically to avoid the heat, but also, I am hoping that the roads will be less busy because of tourists. Did you feel most of the cars were local, or tourists? 3) Locals: I too experienced very rude people in Lisbon. I guess it's just the way... I think learning a little portuguese might go a long way. 4) Drinking on tour. I avoid alcohol at all costs. It takes more out of you than it replaces. Also, the fact you were sick made the trip a lot less enjoyable that it should be. There is no other remedy besides resting.
Thank you for the comment ☺️ 1.) nope this was our first bike tour ever! 2.) it was mostly Portuguese cars 3.) we tried to learn the most important basics as well :) 4.) we like to enjoy a nice beer or glass of wine in the evening as a treat to a success day of cycling ☺️ All the best 😊
Hi. Sorry you had to cancel your trip. I am planning on a trip from UK to Athens. Which way would you recommend. I was thinking ferry to Rotterdam and on from there. Any route suggestions would be great. Thanks.
You guys started at the wrong season, and yup European red tape, alles verboten in Germany makes it not fun and Germany's lack of digitization makes everything a nightmare not to mention the weather.
Good, that I can decide if I WANT to spend all day in freezing temperatures and rain. Cause guess what I am not forced to do a trip that is actually supposed to be FUN! 😌

I also had to pay this (at 5:00 min) in Italy. They must make a lot of money with this system.
