One of my favorite classic arcade games...have a very nice upright in my garage/arcade :) . Hopefully, the new owner has at least dumped the ROMs for preservation's sake! Is it known if this would be just a ROM swap into an existing WOW boardset to run it? If so and/or if the owner has any interest, I'm a co-organizer/staff member of the California Video and Pinball show and I would LOVE to show/share this in an upright at the next show currently set for the last weekend in July (7/29 & 7/30). There are 2 staff members who have this upright in our respective collections, and we could easily bring both machines with one set to the original game with the other running the prototype game. Both machines side-by-side at the show...how cool would that be? :) Totally understand if the owner wants to remain silent, but there it is if he's at all interested. If the latter, LMK and maybe we can figure something out. And thanks for sharing this awesome video and amazing find! Cheers, Jon
It's more likely if it goes to any gaming convention it would be Midwest Gaming Classic or Missouri Game Con. Right now the ROMs have not been dumped, the owner would need assistance on that one.
You know I think this version of Wizard Of Wor was the one that Bally later ported to the Bally Astrocade home console as the sprites look similar among other similarities, Just a thought.
@Mad Conservative Crimefighter Being a wrestling and gaming fan, I got a game you got to try out. Ultimate Muscle: Legends VS New Generation for the Gamecube
It's got a lot more in common with the Galaga cabaret cabinet, just with straighter cuts between marquee and control panel, vs the curve Galaga has. I was surprised by the article from arcadeheroes that says "It appears to be a never before seen Mini Cabaret Cabinet." Maybe I'm misreading him but I thought it was known all along that WoW was available in fullsize, cabaret, and cocktail (have owned all three.) What I find interesting is that a prototype would come in the cabaret size instead of fullsize. Wonder if there was an Invisible Monsters fullsize at one point...
@@someotherplace it has absolutely nothing in common visually with a galaga cabaret.lol. galaga cabinets flanked the monitor whereas pacman, its open. plus the marquee is laid back on pacman, like invisible monsters whereas galagas marquee is much more forward. i think you should google some images. i know robotron prototypes were cabaret and missile command was also so it's not that uncommon, unless those are the only 3. haha
Strong Museum who has this machine was urged to back them up, I dunno if they will be released, but I haven't heard anything about putting it out on display.
WOW!!! This is really neat!!!
7:42 that art work looks really cool
That spaceman outfit must have been popular early 80's. It looks like what Klaus Nomis wore in Total Eclipse, and that was borrowed from David Bowie.
The cabinet art is wearing a gladiator helmet; so I assume it's supposed to be a Worrior.

Doubt... They're requesting a fortune for the board.

Sold for $5500 on eBay. Any idea who the new owner is?
Glad they went back and added more features and characters. This game seems pretty slow and repetitive.

Eh....I don't think so. The Wizard and Worluk weren't in this game, while the Astrocade was a near perfect port of the arcade game.
