The hand under the blanket thing is actually similar to what they were bred for. Dachshunds are actually a type of hunting dog. They were bred to flush out small game underground. They have short legs and a long back to fit in long narrow spaces and powerful front paws perfect for digging. Your hand is the hypothetical prey under the blanket. Giving her that outlet for her instincts is SOOOO good for her. Keep it up!!!
My family has been raised with Dachshunds and I think Sandy is the cutest one ever! I absolutely love Dachshunds! My aunt’s dachshund, Charlie, behaves in the same way as Sandy.
