@JamesMichaelStClair If you Google "henry cowell cluster sibelius" the first option is a link to a relevant thread on the Sibelius forum. You could also try using a custom line instead of a symbol.

I have a problem. When I append the scores in Sibelius, the name for the next score, is taken over by the name of the first score that has the other scores appended to it. Is this meant to happen here? Is there someway around this without having to go and re-type each title in without while hiding the wildcard name for each new piece,. for the new added piece of music? Thanks if you have any suggestions.

As far as I know, when you open a First document in Sibelius, it becomes a fully-fledged Sibelius document and you can work with it the way you would any other Sibelius file. You could download the free 30-day demo of Sibelius 7 to make sure it will do what you want.

I have managed in one piece by turning off the magnetic layout for symbols and using them to create the lines joining the boundary note heads, but this is an extremely slow process and has to be redone when appending movements, etc. (not to mention the fact that I have to hide all stems and beams of one of the pair of boundary note heads). I would appreciate any tips you could pass along.

@nycmusicservices Thanks for the reply. I had seen the link you mentioned; unfortunately, that thread was left more or less inadequately answered. I'll give custom lines a shot.

Also, I was wondering if you had any tips for notating chromatic clusters for the piano in Sibelius. The "cluster" symbol they have is unable to be used if there are half note / whole note clusters and is not, unfortunately, the "Henry Cowell Approved" method.

Sometimes, yes, for more complicated page number formatting we will hide them in Sibelius and add them in another program like Acrobat or InDesign.

Thank you, very helpful and easy to follow. I also appreciate the tips for the "clean up" after appending.
