I loved your squeaky door - I felt as though i was really going into your shop. Thank you for this tour - its a great way to start the weekend. I would love to visit one day :)
The G&G shop is probably my favourite sewing space to visit. Full of inspiration and always good for the soul. Will be visiting as soon as we’re allowed, but in the meantime hope the team stay safe and well ❤️🪡🧵
What a delightful shop with so many beautiful unique fabrics. This shop is more than enough temptation for me to get back to UK as soon as possible! I’m going to visit the museums in London and then come to your beautiful shop....I hope there is a post office close by, I’ll be mailing things home for myself. Thank you for the tour.
Hi Lauren I would love a run through all the patterns you stock and the kind of fabrics you would use with them - just for some creative inspiration! Thanks 😊
Hey Lauren, when you are open again, I’m going to come to the shop with my phone and headphones, and I will watch this video, while looking around, it will be brilliant as it will be like getting a personal guided explanation on where all the fabrics are. Great video!
@@sallydingle321 Where about in the country are you Sally? G&G is about 20 minute drive from me, but all the times I’ve been before, dressmaking making wasn’t my favourite, or high on my priorities of makes, so next time I go I will be there with fresh eyes. x
It's about 350 miles away from me Claire sadly 😔... I live in Cornwall. One day I'll make a trip up.. hopefully when we're out of this Corona virus time 🙏💝
Morning Lauren. Thank you helping us get our fabric fix whilst in lockdown!! I'm a confident beginner looking to move onto more exciting fabrics than cotton...! You mentioned lots of fabric blends like linen viscose and weaves like viscose twill. Are these fabrics generally easier to work with than standard viscose (I've heard viscose can be tricky but it's soooooo beautiful!) I've also ordered my very first G&G kit!!! The Ostara top will be my first attempt at a stretch fabric. Are there any 'beginner friendly fabrics you would recommend whilst I get to grips with working with stretchy of slippy fbrics? I have the following patterns: Jennifer Lauren Ostara Top and Ivy Pinafore. TATB Indigo. MBR Trillium (love this pattern). Thank you so much for your support ❤
Hello :) Linen viscose will be easier to work with than viscose twill as the linen component makes the fabric more stable. While you are still getting to grips with jersey I'd recommend sticking to cotton jersey (rather than viscose/modal/tencel jersey) as cotton tends to move around less as well. A cotton lawn would be nice for the indigo and easier for a first attempt than a viscose :)
This was really interesting, I’d love to come and visit you in real time; when we can. Just a word on Instagram; I don’t receive any sound and it seems quite a common problem. Thanks Lauren.
Hi Helen, ah thats great! Have you double checked your phone is off silence mode? If it's happening a lot for you on instagram it might be worth checking for updates or deleting and reinstalling the app again. I hope that helps :)
Lovely, what a great selection of fabric, in the future would love to visit your store, hopefully one day things will get better. Thanks for sharing Do you have a website where I can purchase on line? Do you ship to Canada??.
