I've yet to get an answer as to whether the base plate would leave any marks in the finish. I looks like it definitely would. This could affect value if removed for resale with original hardware.

If you screw the bolts to tight on the bridge it leaves dents in the body
I never had that issue at all. When i removed one of mine all I seen was a bit of dust
