What an amazing run. I never knew about the max health gain trick! That's really cool! Something I've discovered, and I don't think it's covered in the manual, but when you're fighting The Boss, there's a trick you can do to recover from a botched CQC attempt. Normally, if you mis-time it, she'll grab you, hit you to stun you, and then throw you to the ground. If you press the Weapon button instead of the CQC button at around the time she does the hit, Snake will do a counter-grab and twist out of her grasp. Not only does it give you a second chance to throw her if you screw up the CQC timing, but it looks really cool, too!
Oh! Last time i seen someone did this was in a speedrun. It reallly looks sick, but is there maybe in other situations this can be done? Kinda curious if there is more to do in this game somehow
I always wondered how the counter grab works, because when that happens I STILL hit the CQC button, sometimes multiple times. Never used the weapon button. Will try that some time, if I don't forget it though.

My beloved and personal favorite. Surely one of the top best of all times. I knew about the fact that you can grab guards, throw them onto the ground and then point the gun to them. This game is full of surprises. I discovered many of them many years later. I didn't know about the noiseless footsteps while throwing a grenade. Did you know that in the cave you can wait until it gets much more brighter ? This is an alternative method compared to the use of the cigar, the torch or the night vision goggle. Creative and deep indeed ❤
It wasn't untill I was streaming it realised HOW MUCH FLASHING was going on in that section. I have no photosensitivity issues and it made me uncomfortable. Can't be dropping that on people qothout warning!
I'm SO GLAD I was watching MGS videos to see this on my Recco feed. It's my favorite franchise. Your delivery, your cadence, your editing... this is a REALLY GOOD video. PLEASE keep it up; you're gonna go far on YT with this style. Loved this entire vid, watched the whole thing.
Thanks! MGS is probably my favourite series, but I will be playing a bunch of different games... if i come up with a good idea for a challenge run in a metal gear game I am always down!
Ive played this game 100s of times over the last 15 years and you sir, showed things, items strategies i never knew. Thank you for my renewed nostalgia
You’ve heard of Solid Snake and Naked Snake. Now witness a debatably more dangerous version. “Shirtless Snake”. A sweaty man who may or may not nullify everyone in his path, blow himself up and break his legs to increase his health, and leave his abs showing for additional dominance.
The last time I played Snake Eater i discovered that if you heal the crossbow bolt wounds but don’t remove ‘em, they stay in your body for the rest of the game. Your bone breaking montage reminded me of that
Some of them yes. specifically the Fury and (strangely enough) the ocelot unit. The rest of them have some very strong strategies The Boss herself is also a straight skill check and can be brutal if your trying to CQC but havent got the timing down
@@sirrando one time in my life. NEVER again. And yes. I specifically remember The Fury giving me the most trouble and The Boss is basically perfect run or bust
I found you because of the fable video, when i saw this I knew i had to watch it. Then you made the DSP reference and now I know, that I'll be handing around for a long time. Keep up the good work
This video is the best video I've seen in a while. The humour is great. The editing too was leaps and bounds above what I would expect for a channel thise size. I can see a lot of effort went into this. Your channel deserves all the growth it gets.
Did a CQC knife/animals only run back in 2005 and loved it. this brought back a lot of memories thanks for the great video. Very annoying about the pain boss fight I was always frustrated with this myself.
I know. Its a right pain that the pain throws a wrench into the works, if your playing on hard or below there is a way to skip his fight with fake death pulls though
You're a madman, how the hell do you attempt European Extreme without having anxiety when instant failure is always imminent. Let alone doing it in a way that further handicaps and raises the difficulty? You put a lot of work into this, and along with the passion you have for MGS, it makes the video incredibly entertaining to watch! You're pretty good ❤
Thank you! Honestly there wasn't that much anxiety, because a lot of the sneaking challenges are a puzzle. Coming up with a silly strategy that worked was great fun. Except some of the bosses, now they were rather difficult.
I read the tilttle of this video and thought: this is definitely going to be a good time. First time here, hope to find happiness and warm, since my beloved YG passed away i struggle with that sadness, hope to the north, hope through the snow.
How does this video have so little views and why did TH-cam recommend this channel to me just now? This is quality content, hoping MGS Delta will boost you a bit!
@@sirrando You opened my mind when explaining the self injuring to gain more health. I've seen speedruns do that all the time and never explained. _Justice is an understatement, _*_respect_*_ is what you gave this game._ 👌
Im glad you stremed while recording the footage for this. Makes the old days of playing it all by yourself seem so obsolete. Glad you weren't just slogging away in a room by yourself amd talking to no one.
I did that for most of my previous challenges, i started streaming them at the timesplitters video. Playing by myself is also fun and I dont mind at all. But it can be nice to get some ideas from stream chat to help figure some of the problems out
I love how the video is a tutorial of sorts of how to do the run yourself, and the workarounds used for the bosses without guns. Its a shame The Pain was the only one who couldn't be fought in a unique way.
Not even ten minutes in, played this game countelss times, Metal Gear is my all time favorite franchise, and I'm still learning things i never knew... Didn't know you could drop off the bridge and grab that branch. Didn't know you could get under that broken peice of wall. Didn't know pulling a pin on a grenade stops footstep sounds. Of course I'm also the dumdum, that it didn't even occur to, to have a long drawn out sniper battle with the End though. The first time I played it, I immediately equipped the thermals and the shotgun and ran at him with no hesitation. It still worked. I was a kid at the time, so cut me some slack.
Great editing, great commentary, great gameplay, impressive playthrough follow through. I'm surprised you don't have more subs, but it's bound to happen. I'll be glad to help you to 1 million. Looking forward to more videos mate.
I absolutely Love your mgs videos man! I've been watching since the first One you posted and i'll Keep watching even when you have One million subscribers 😁
7:30 Any time you take a injury and it heals your health bar extends slightly, this is to show that as snake takes more damage he becomes more durable with the old adage of what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Also the difficulty you play on changes the starting length of the gauge but it can always be extended to the full length of the stamina bar. On Easy 3/4ths the gauge is there, on Normal its half, and with Hard and Extreme its a quarter pip and a half of a pip. It also effects capacity for ammo and what not so you start with less, and enemies are more aware of there surroundings on harder difficulties...Well as aware as they can get in the PS2 era without being flat out unfair... 8:45 This is a very valuable thing to know when playing a non lethal run, you see the reason for that is knocking out a guard with CQC puts stars over there head, and the problem with that is if they get up they will call a caution on top of the fact of the getting up eventually part. But If there sleeping and they get up then they will not call a caution but they will get up eventually and if your doing a no tranq run then that's off the table so by doing this you can avoid them calling a caution flat out. This removes them from play by keeping them down while your there letting you take as long as you need to go through the area. The only times it wont work is if another guard stumbles across them so make sure you pin them down somewhere where a guard wont go, and it also wont work if you fire a gun that is empty near them as they will get back up and call a alert as a response. You can also shake down guards while they are like this, and the benefit to this way of doing it is guards that were resistant about being shaken down of there items while standing can be shaken down while held down to the ground like this letting you get items off of guards who refuse to be shaken down normally. 10:20 If your worried about not being able to see in the caves or finding your way out the game has a hidden mechanic, Snakes eyes will adjust to the darkness over the course of minutes so it will slowly get brighter the longer your in here. Just remember you cant use the map unless you have a light source but the cigar counts as a light source so use that and pull up the map to not lose track on where to go. 15:30 Do be careful when using the box near scientists if you keep alerting them they will decide to turn and look at the box indefinitely while your staying there...I don't need to tell you why that is not a good thing... 22:35 Healing a injury even partially with the cure menu will cause it to heal itself very quickly so lingering injuries can be fixed while still getting the health buff. This is really useful with bullet injuries since the knife is all that is needed and it will cure itself very quickly. 24:35 The Heli is actually loud enough to completely hide any and all sniper shots which is mighty convenient given most would get a Tranq sniper with no suppressor by this point, of course while not good for this run it is better for any future casual runs to know that. 32:10 If the spirits are giving you a hard time open your backpack and all of a sudden you'll realize all your weapons are there that is because this whole walk through these water logged woods is not real and as such snake can use his willpower to conjure his weapons he had so you can use the lethal weapons to push the spirits back and at bay. And before someone asks you cant kill what is already dead it merely stuns them but it will make getting through them easier. 35:55 If your not doing a non lethal run taking out the engineers in the bay will reduce the Shagohods starting health.
@@sirrando I played the game on the PS2, PS3, 360, and 3DS and my preferred ways are the 360 and the 3DS. Kojima decided to use the pressure sensitive buttons of the PS2 and PS3 controllers to play the game... I personally hate that control scheme. Press to light on the circle button and you let go or don't pull your gun. Press to hard and now you kill the guy your trying to hold onto and with full auto weapons it keeps firing making them next to impossible to aim. Face buttons are best used by pressing them all the way or not at all and imo it was a stupid idea to have that. Even when incorporated it was more a hinderance then a benefit because the small surface area makes it extremely difficult to make it work right.
This is cool, ima have to give it a go. My "fav" challenege run is what I call the "Nakey Snakey". You gotta crawl the entire game, no steps allowed, except the half step needed to skip the ladder, but also you gotta do the whole run naked. It is rediculously hard
I remember I did the exact same run when I was 12. Spent everyday for a month after school trying to do this. Felt so happy when I did, moreso than a happy birthday at the time
23:50 Lol Snake even before becoming big boss still cares about soldiers health I still have yet to play MGS3 but I saw the thumbnail and had to watch. Currently doing my first run of mgs since I have the collection. Love the vid instant sub
Watching you figure out ways to win in unfavorable odds, was heaps of fun, that being said I bet it wasn't as fun on your side. Keep up the awesome work.
Awesome video! Haven’t played MGS3 in years (even though I keep buying copies of it for some reason???) and this brought back a flood of memories of weird tactics I used to try, but also taught me some I never knew. Fantastic narration and editing, loved the guard nicknames as well. You very much earned this subscription
I've played European Extreme twice now and I'm amazed it only took you 31 attempts to go through that groznyj grad section, admittedly I didn't know about feeding Johnny to get the sig spray but still. The first time I used the box most of the way and failed a lot, the second time I went along the building from cover to cover, I failed less but it was super tense. well played.
That's a gag that started in my tenchu video.... and it's stuck at this point. It's also a fun challenge while I am writing the script. Glad you enjoyed the video

Every DSP Clip makes a video even better. You got to give it to the dude: He wrote meme history with his MGS2+3 playthroughs. Insane video btw i remember how hard it was to play through Extreme without any alerts, this one just seems even more insane.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it! And no, you can't really hate on the guy at this point. He is like... the old grumpy grandpa who is stuck in his ways of gaming.

Wonderful narration and editing. I watched this over two toilet breaks and I was HOOKED. You more than deserve every like, comment and sub for this video. Which is why I came to drop my two cents.
My gosh. Your video popped up on my feed and I’m a big time MGS fan. This was a great video. Very informative and entertaining. You sir have another sub.
My fav challenge run is what I call the "Nakey Snakey". E.Extreme, naked camo ONLY, and you have to crawl the entire game. NO STEPS ALLOWED, save for the 1 half-step you gotta take to skip the mega ladder, steps up a ladder are still steps. You can do a single punch to move yourself forward to go off ledges since Snake can't go off them while crawling. It is stuuuupid hard, getting spotted is death. Now with a couple of these things you got in this video, like no kills or tranqs, and a continue limit, that might be the hardest run possible. Im gunna try yours, then add those few elements to my "Nakey Snakey". I implore you to give it a go. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. MGS3 is my fav game of all time. I LIVE this shit lolol

Did you know that in the cave you can wait until it gets much more brighter ? This is an alternative method compared to the use of the cigar, the torch or the night vision goggle. Creative and deep indeed ❤
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
And yeah, your "eyes" will adjust to the dark in the cave, its just too slow lol
Can't believe you dont have more subs. Great and clear commentary, thanks for the photosensitivity warnings. Subbed!
It wasn't untill I was streaming it realised HOW MUCH FLASHING was going on in that section. I have no photosensitivity issues and it made me uncomfortable. Can't be dropping that on people qothout warning!
The explosion and leg breaking to the rhythm of "Snake Eater" got me hard! good stuff!
I had fun putting those bits together aswell
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was great!! So glad I got to watch the livestreams. Keep up the great work!
Eyyyyy!
Good to see you again. Glad you dropped by for the final product!
You’ve heard of Solid Snake and Naked Snake. Now witness a debatably more dangerous version. “Shirtless Snake”. A sweaty man who may or may not nullify everyone in his path, blow himself up and break his legs to increase his health, and leave his abs showing for additional dominance.
You are going to be a good creator, and it is very clear the effort you put into this is top quality. Thank you for your good work.
Thank you ever so much for the kind words! I am glad you think so
this video was a lot better than expected especially for someone with a low amount of subscribers, genuinely better than most challenge run videos
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it!
Impressive, very nice, now let's see Paul Allen's extreme playtrough
Thanks im glad you enjoyed it. I'm not sure what you mean by Paul Allen's playthrough though?

Been playing this since I was 10 and I only now heard about the grenade no footsteps thing, this game's depth is truly peak gaming
I didnt find out until I was streaming and someone mentioned it to me, these games are wild and have so many little quirks
Amazing run I am amazed for the amount of patience this should've required
I am here before your channel grows up exponentially :P
Thank you for the kind words. It would be nice if my channel does well, but, I'm just here enjoying making things!
The last time I played Snake Eater i discovered that if you heal the crossbow bolt wounds but don’t remove ‘em, they stay in your body for the rest of the game.
Your bone breaking montage reminded me of that
Lol achievement unlocked, "Snake Beater"
;)
Oh my god.
You poor bastard.
The bosses in this game are RELENTLESS at this difficulty.
GG
Some of them yes. specifically the Fury and (strangely enough) the ocelot unit. The rest of them have some very strong strategies
The Boss herself is also a straight skill check and can be brutal if your trying to CQC but havent got the timing down
@@sirrando one time in my life. NEVER again.
And yes. I specifically remember The Fury giving me the most trouble and The Boss is basically perfect run or bust

I found you because of the fable video, when i saw this I knew i had to watch it. Then you made the DSP reference and now I know, that I'll be handing around for a long time. Keep up the good work
Thank you! Glad you have been enjoying my cor er of the internet!
I love the shot you took at DSP 😂
I mean... its the law right!?
@@sirrando You're goddamn right. ^_^
This video is the best video I've seen in a while. The humour is great. The editing too was leaps and bounds above what I would expect for a channel thise size. I can see a lot of effort went into this. Your channel deserves all the growth it gets.
Thanks. Its means a lot, glad you are enjoying my videos!
Damn Dude! I can't believe you managed to do this run, congrats its a great watch!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Can't even imagine the amount of effort that this took. Subbed! I almost want to try something crazy like this when Delta comes out
Thanks! give it a go! it was (mostly) a lot of fun

@@sirrando when you mentioned this on the video i tried searching for it on TH-cam bit couldn't find it. can you link me to the strategy?

"You're pretty good"
You're a madman, how the hell do you attempt European Extreme without having anxiety when instant failure is always imminent.
Now do it without a game over
That sounds like an absolute nightmare to do but it's absolutely awesome that you actually achieved it and showed your methods
Thanks. Glad you liked it
I read the tilttle of this video and thought: this is definitely going to be a good time.
First time here, hope to find happiness and warm, since my beloved YG passed away i struggle with that sadness, hope to the north, hope through the snow.
This was very fun to watch. Your commentary is very entertaining. Nice work getting the challenge done!
Glad you enjoyed it!
How does this video have so little views and why did TH-cam recommend this channel to me just now? This is quality content, hoping MGS Delta will boost you a bit!
Thanks! Glad you liked it, and hope you like my other videos
And I thought playing on European Extreme Non-Lethally for my first playthrough was tough, bravo! This looked intense.
...
You're pretty good
Gratz! Non lethal European eextreme is no joke! Your pretty good too!
Thanks boss o7
Been quietly keeping an eye on the Livestreams waiting patiently for the Full Game Vid. *_What a Thrill!_*
Thank you! Glad you tuned in for them! This was a blast to do for sure.and I hope this does the game some justice
Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed it, I like the idea of making a blueprint for other people to try some of these challenges!
Words cannot express how happy I am coming back and seeing your sub count up by like 500 each time. The real Big Boss

Seeing the title I instantly subb and favorite this video! Great job btw!!!
You have good game knowledge my friend! This is a good breakdown of some of the strats I used and some additional info for readers!
41:07
I love the DOOM rankings for difficulty
Thanks! Its a good metric to explain how hard the challenges are versus each other!
@@sirrando True.
Felt so happy when I did, moreso than a happy birthday at the time
Gratz!
23:50 Lol Snake even before becoming big boss still cares about soldiers health
I still have yet to play MGS3 but I saw the thumbnail and had to watch. Currently doing my first run of mgs since I have the collection. Love the vid instant sub
Good luck with your run! and i am glad you enjoyed this one!

Definitely good to see this type of run done again.
Glad to be of service!
Thanks! Yes, getting the cig spray is a bit of a game changer there.
He is also nice enough to hand it back with full ammo

How do you only have 840 subs with such golden content ?? this is a crime against humanity. You have a sub from me and I hope your channel grows !!
Thank you! I am glad you think so!
Because metal gear is sadly not a mainstream game… it’s pretty obscure. It will probably become more popular when metal gear Delta comes out though!
My gosh. Your video popped up on my feed and I’m a big time MGS fan. This was a great video. Very informative and entertaining. You sir have another sub.

Glad you enjoyed it!
mgs AND ape escape runs? How have i not come across your stuff until now? Fastest sub of my life
Great series, both of them, it's got to be done!
