      I don't know if we'll be able to convince you otherwise, but absolutely nothing was mapped out beforehand. Tony had no idea what the subject matter was going to be and his reaction at the end was sincere. Glad you enjoyed it, hope you enjoy episodes we have forthcoming on WWE PPV weekends this summer.

    Tony keeps bringing up in these interviews that piper wrote in his book about tony speaking up about his pay was the same as it was before hogan. The part Tony is leaving out is that piper wrote that Tony said is “how come I get fronted some of my pay and then how come when my paycheck comes it’s less than it should be”
    Tony sees everything different than it actually is

    Women have never drawn money

    • @michaelr.4878
      @michaelr.4878 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a true statement in modern days...especially when it comes to them actually wrestling. Back in the early territorial days, they drew as a special attraction. Just like the midgets. Back when Moulah had her ladies troupe and they would travel and be booked by promoters who wanted a special attraction to sell some extra tickets. They would get the women, midgets or someone like Andre. But it only worked for 1 or 2 shows...and then the crowd would be sick of them.
      ...Even today with this 'women's revolution', as they call it in the wwe. I don't think these much improved women's matches are drawing any viewers or ticket buyers. They might inspire some little girl to become a wrestler or watch more, but they aren't bring in fans. But they certainly are doing a great job and it is nice to see them actually wrestling and not throwing each other around by the hair..like women did in the past. I used to hate the spot where the girl on her knees was picked up and kind of 360 spun around by her hair (but she was really just holding onto the other girl's 'forearms).

    • @GEORGIOARCADE
      @GEORGIOARCADE 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sadly in wresting this is true. I mean nowadays maybe Becky & Charlotte & Rhonda can draw some big money but you obviously can't have them always in the main event cuz you gotta build the other women up. But some of the matches aren't the best & can be sloppy at times. I hope tho that things can change. There are women outside of wwe that I know can draw.

    Now going into wrestlemania 30+, fans today if polled would "slam" the first by comparison. Which not saying to argue comparison, but for godsakes show respect to the one that started it all. Ive read many comments saying it sucked. In my POV, its still the best one. BECAUSE for the advancement of cable tv and vhs into the home and the stars that became house hold names it was the clash, the gathering it was WRESTLEMANIA.

      Boston Wrestling MWF - Don't worry about what some 12 year old turkey has to say. You do a great job. I can only begin to imagine what it is like trying to keep Tony on track. Most people don't realize what the job of an interviewer entails. Keeping the guest on topic is one of the jobs..and Tony is a bit of a special case that requires extra 'handling'. Keep it up man. I really enjoy your videos.

    I love Tony Atlas. When I was a kid Tony looked like a super hero. But he couldn't wrestle a lick. I know he thinks Vince looked him over. But that ain't true. Tony could be hard to watch. He just never "got it". That's why they tried to keep him on a tag team.

    • @bigtrex76
      @bigtrex76 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      MonstarMk3 i almost debated you lol, but i stopped and thought yeah he never really had any note-able single matches

    • @bostonwrestlingcom
      @bostonwrestlingcom  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He was used substantially as a singles - including almost never getting pinned at monthly MSG events, the equivalent of monthly PPV's - prior to walking out on WWF in 1984. Even during his run as a tag team champion, on house shows, he worked mainly singles. He was being groomed for a monster push until his "vice" made him unreliable. The post-1985 modern era Atlas left little to be remembered for once WWF tricked him into walking out on AWA / Verne Gagne.

  • @bjbou5217
    @bjbou5217 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Paul Orndorff was legitmately tough. Not the toughest guy, but not a pushover. Also, there were guys in the WWF at the time that could have shooted on Mr. T. He was in the lions den.

    Of course woman don't get pushed as much as the men Tony. Pro Wrestling is known as a man sport. Of course they don't let woman play in the NFL. That would be awful LMAO. If Tony wrestled today. He would complain that women are getting better pushes than him. He says he has been doing this for 45 years. Listen, just because someone does something for a living, doesn't mean they are good at it.

  • @russie.russell

    At least Tony can openly admit to being "Stupid" as he also stated in the Hannibal Interview. Because he NEVER THOUGHT to simply Call Verne and see if Vince was telling the Truth....
    That's just common sense, especially when you have a championship in another division
    In any business, people are ALWAYS testing others to see how far they can get over on them regardless of the industry...
    But here's the thing, Vince's Health is Failing big time (if you saw him at that Ring ceremony)
    He looks very bad

      He'd have some insight, because he actually got in a fistfight with him. I've heard a lot of people say orndorff was tough, but it sounds more like he got in a lot of fights due to lacking a sense of humor.
      Compared to the average person, I'm sure he's tough. Compared to some of the other guys Atlas wrestled with (Brody, Black Jack, Harley, ...), probably not.

      It wasn't racist? Of course it was racist. What was slick's gimmick - a pimp. What was kamala's gimmick? Tribal african guy.
      How many black guys carried the title for 3 or 6 months? The answer to that is in another video, not many, because TV ratings go down due to viewers being racist.

    • @shadowypuppetman2656

      Problem is, at least partly, Atlas sees everything through a black lens, 'doesn't matter' eh, the tag team titles many teams never even received in the northeast or simmons' world title?! Yea, right-that's it; it's all about HIS career too. Use to love this guy, so happy-go-lucky back in the day, it is a shame but mixes up wcw/wwe/ecw like this was all the same territory.He wasn't much of a worker anyway and got pretty messed up.
