Ever since the rise of the indy darlings i stopped watching. I used to watch larger than life characters with personality, charisma and wrestlers that had presence. There was suspence and believability in what they would say. Fans now have pen and paper while they watch and think they are the "know it all" geniuses. I hate to be that guy, but wrestling was better back in the day
That's inaccurate. Before this crppy era there was the PG era that drove the casual audience away. Then the smarks got empowered because WWE has no one else to cater to. You don't get cancer out of nothing. You get cancer for smoking 20 cigarettes per day. (OK, sometimes you do, but you get my point)

I don't even understand how anyone can say the current generation can wrestle great? In what world? What is the idea of being a good wrestler? Just doing high spots, kicking out of one, and absolutely no psychology whatsoever to sell any kind of pain. These guys watched Hbk, jericho, malenko, eddie, benoit, Rey, etc... and took their movesets, but without any of their ability to sell, or their understanding of how to paint the picture in the canvas which ends up resulting with guys like the bucks, omega, and the entire cruiserweight divison. No charisma, no psychology, no interest of improving physique, their shit looks fake and you can see how far they miss the contact, no storyline interest, all which make pro wrestling its namesake.

As someone who has trained in MMA and kickboxing. I find smarks horrendous. They think they're a part of the show period. And they're a joke. If you want to watch real fighting go watch MMA and kickboxing or bare knuckle fighting... Not professional wrestling.

Yep and this wrestlemania crap this weekend is a big joke to me. I actually like pro wrestling and I don't even wanna watch this junk. I'll watch a starrcade or ecw maybe a classic wrestlemania this weekend. Sort of like pouring a drink for a dead homie. I was an amauter wrestler all the way into college but I watched nitro and raw in the 90s and have some warm feelings for that time period between 95-01 in wrestling. After that I only kept up with boxing, and mma. It gets on my nerves when marks tell me to watch wrestlemania. I can talk about 70s, 80s, 90s wrestling for two hours but anything after a certain year is cringe to me

All great points, But i think my biggest problem is that these indy darlings are not safe to work with, look at Rollins when he was getting his first push as Universal Champion. The guy injured 3 people, like really badly. Finn Balor's shoulder, he broke Sting's neck and literally retired him and he even broke his own leg on a top rope powerbomb. I think that's why Vince likes bigger guys like Roman and Drew, when they slam someone or hit a big spot they usually have more control on how they can drop them. Someone smaller like Rollins just hasn't got any control over someone's momentum. I honestly blame Daniel Bryan for all this crap, the whole Wrestlemania XXX nonsense.

Marks are killing the business. Contrary to what the marks believe it is a TV SHOW at end of the day. The quality of the match above all else is like having a TV drama that can care less about compelling characters. It breeds bland stale characters that NOBODY other than marks who will invest their time and money in. They think they can run a wrestling company KEY WORD COMPANY, Better than the actual suits who would care about drawing the largest possible audience, making money instead of alienating the entire fan base to please the most entitled, spoiled, hard to please SMALLEST and MOST VOCAL section of the fan base. Marks are always in black wrestling shirts usually with a neckbeard and poor hygiene and make it unbearable for any other fan to enjoy. True pro wrestling shows off great athleticism but at the end of the day it’s not real. The suspension of disbelief is in the character not the match. The marks are completely driven by emotion throwing absurd tantrums if the storyline or booking isn’t in line with their opinions or what they want. What they like seldom makes sense or anyone outside that ultra niche portion of the fan base values good matchups, “dream matches” or 5 star matches. Anytime there is a tournament or a very wrestling heavy episode of any show I know not to watch and most if not all casual fans will tune out as well. WWE ratings have consistently fell for 20 years and AEW’s trash show hasn’t ever topped the ratings OF THEIR FIRST SHOW. Pleasing the marks stunts the business and doesn’t allow for any growth outside of the mark fan base. A regular fan will not watch if a show sucks. A mark will watch every show whether good or not go on a podcast and give their amateur analysis to either praise or shit all over the show. (They think that they are experts at product knowledge but actually know nothing of really goes on in front and behind the camera.

The podcast, interviewing the freaking superstars/wrestlers making them get out of characters, the journalists, the sources, the reviewers who think that in their TH-cam Channel, they somehow think their words are gospel and are the right ones. I agree on a lot of points except Roman Reigns, Roman Reigns fucking sucks and has zero charisma. Even as a heel and with Heyman coaching him, he is only just marginally better. Lesnar was so criminally underrated it was not even funny and it was really pathetic to see everyone hate on him for barely being there, yet no one has hate for Stone Cold Steve Austin lite Jon Moxley, who got zero charisma and held onto the IWGP U.S title for a whole year with no title defense. At least Lesnar defended his title a minimum 3 times in a calendar year.
Umm i agree with some but the part when you say technical is something i have to disagree with. Keep in mind pro wrestling existed from catch wrestling so they made it scripted or predetermined just for the sake of entertainment. If you say it does too much unnecessary spots or dives then ill agree with you.

What drew many to watch wrestling in the first place was the storylines. To kids and teens, watching wrestling was much like reading a weekly edition of a comic book, anticipating what will happen in the. next issue, I miss the two hour RAW back then that would always fade to black on a cliffhanger. Today this smark culture believes that to have good wrestling you need to appreciate and respect the "artistry" of a match. Yeah that's fine and all...flippy shit...a million kicks...but to non-IWC fans it's like "why should I watch this". WWE fucked up by listening to the IWC. Wrestling no longer has that larger than life spectacle to it, there was a time when a good storyline got you so invested in it that you forgot it was scripted, much like a TV show or movie. I've honestly become a hardcore UFC fan now after i stopped watching WWE about 3 years ago, why tf would I want to watch scripted technical dancing with nothing spectacle about it when I could go watch real sports and feel an authentic spectacle. Kayfabe has pretty been slashed by the IWC and wrestlers today even break kayfabe with all the twitter talk and using IWC terminology on the mic.

Look at guys like Jericho, Edge, Miz, etc. They are excellent guys at promos and pretty good heel characters and fits those roles better than faces. Seth Rollins especially quite struggled as a face in his first solo run at it. WWE has been lacking the true top babyface for a long time now that have charisma and looks. I'm hoping WWE don't fumble the ball with LA Knight like they did with Zack Ryder.

I was an amauter wrestler all the way into college but I watched nitro and raw in the 90s and have some warm feelings for that time period between 95-01 in wrestling. After that I only kept up with boxing, and mma.
It gets on my nerves when marks tell me to watch wrestlemania. I can talk about 70s, 80s, 90s wrestling for two hours but anything after a certain year is cringe to me

All great points, But i think my biggest problem is that these indy darlings are not safe to work with, look at Rollins when he was getting his first push as Universal Champion. The guy injured 3 people, like really badly. Finn Balor's shoulder, he broke Sting's neck and literally retired him and he even broke his own leg on a top rope powerbomb. I think that's why Vince likes bigger guys like Roman and Drew, when they slam someone or hit a big spot they usually have more control on how they can drop them. Someone smaller like Rollins just hasn't got any control over someone's momentum.

Marks are killing the business. Contrary to what the marks believe it is a TV SHOW at end of the day. The quality of the match above all else is like having a TV drama that can care less about compelling characters. It breeds bland stale characters that NOBODY other than marks who will invest their time and money in. They think they can run a wrestling company KEY WORD COMPANY, Better than the actual suits who would care about drawing the largest possible audience, making money instead of alienating the entire fan base to please the most entitled, spoiled, hard to please SMALLEST and MOST VOCAL section of the fan base. Marks are always in black wrestling shirts usually with a neckbeard and poor hygiene and make it unbearable for any other fan to enjoy. True pro wrestling shows off great athleticism but at the end of the day it’s not real. The suspension of disbelief is in the character not the match. The marks are completely driven by emotion throwing absurd tantrums if the storyline or booking isn’t in line with their opinions or what they want. What they like seldom makes sense or anyone outside that ultra niche portion of the fan base values good matchups, “dream matches” or 5 star matches. Anytime there is a tournament or a very wrestling heavy episode of any show I know not to watch and most if not all casual fans will tune out as well. WWE ratings have consistently fell for 20 years and AEW’s trash show hasn’t ever topped the ratings OF THEIR FIRST SHOW. Pleasing the marks stunts the business and doesn’t allow for any growth outside of the mark fan base. A regular fan will not watch if a show sucks. A mark will watch every show whether good or not go on a podcast and give their amateur analysis to either praise or shit all over the show. (They think that they are experts at product knowledge but actually know nothing of really goes on in front and behind the camera.

The podcast, interviewing the freaking superstars/wrestlers making them get out of characters, the journalists, the sources, the reviewers who think that in their TH-cam Channel, they somehow think their words are gospel and are the right ones. All of theses things, have ruined it all. The IWC the only reason for its existence is written right there, The "Internet Community" its because of the social media like Twitter that, IG and many others.

I love girls like Keibler, Christy Hemme and Maria even though they are not the most ring-efficient. But their presence alone makes people cheer for them without even wrestling.

Keep in mind pro wrestling existed from catch wrestling so they made it scripted or predetermined just for the sake of entertainment. What drew many to watch wrestling in the first place was the storylines. To kids and teens, watching wrestling was much like reading a weekly edition of a comic book, anticipating what will happen in the. next issue, I miss the two hour RAW back then that would always fade to black on a cliffhanger. Today this smark culture believes that to have good wrestling you need to appreciate and respect the "artistry" of a match. Yeah that's fine and all...flippy shit...a million kicks...but to non-IWC fans it's like "why should I watch this". WWE fucked up by listening to the IWC. Wrestling no longer has that larger than life spectacle to it, there was a time when a good storyline got you so invested in it that you forgot it was scripted, much like a TV show or movie. I've honestly become a hardcore UFC fan now after i stopped watching WWE about 3 years ago, why tf would I want to watch scripted technical dancing with nothing spectacle about it when I could go watch real sports and feel an authentic spectacle. Kayfabe has pretty been slashed by the IWC and wrestlers today even break kayfabe with all the twitter talk and using IWC terminology on the mic.

Yeah because of the smarks, they literally make heel roles become overrated garbage roles while babyface roles become underrated roles. I don't mean babyface roles are superior to heel roles. Both babyface and heel roles are equal. Neither of these two roles are superior to each other and it's just the matter of booking either of one of these roles in a wrestler's character. It's just the smarks hyping heels too much and downplayed babyfaces too bad to the point heel roles become overrated garbage roles while babyface roles become underrated roles nowadays. I swear, if the smarks are gone from WWE, I'm pretty sure babyface roles in WWE will become cool and able to survive long as much as heel roles does if not cooler and longer.

Look at guys like Jericho, Edge, Miz, etc. They are excellent guys at promos and pretty good heel characters and fits those roles better than faces. Seth Rollins especially quite struggled as a face in his first solo run at it.
WWE has been lacking the true top babyface for a long time now that have charisma and looks. I'm hoping WWE don't fumble the ball with LA Knight like they did with Zack Ryder.

I’ve watched AEW , NJPW , ROH and it all sucks. ROH is gone out business. AEW can’t surpass the ratings of their first ever show. And NJPW puts on non stop wrestling and tournaments and have all these divisions and weight classes like it’s a real sport. Nobody outside of marks will ever watch that shit.
