Good idea to grow upside-down watermelon, I also love to grow watermelon but i grow vertically with many fruits in a single container only 60 days to harvest

Watermelon is only harvested once, each tree only has 1 fruit, then the fruit will be big and sweet, do you have any questions>?

I'm not sure abt the fish. I make kitchen waste (fruit n veg) compost n it creates lot of muggot. Can u imagine if you just bury the fish on top. Not only muggot ,i think it smells so bad n invite lots of insects
