To this day, I have never heard a song pattern this complex. Snares on the halves, and don't even get me started with the kicks. This was truly the best expirement LP ever created and it paid off. The Piano breakdown still makes me cry everytime, it's just too perfect.
I am always amazed by how chester and shinoda created an almost perfect mix with their voices and ways of singing. each of them is a great singer and artist in its own right, but the combination of both of them is the true essence of linkin park in my eyes
Where oceans bleed into the sky... This has always been my favorite LP song. I hate that everyone is dying. It's hard to mourn for so many people. Chester was so important in the music of our generation. I've learned from losing my grandfather you don't know just how important someone is until they are gone. Chester is one of those people. I never was a huge fan and got to know the member or even watch for concerts, but I did listen to the music. And my god we lost a good one.
What’s your opinion on the meaning of “Where oceans bleed into the sky”? I took it to describe the evaporation that comes from the radiation of nuclear war. The line creates imagery that really adds to the apocalyptic vibe of the entire song. Soooo beautiful and sooo sad.
I still remember when Linkin Park first released this track, fans had no idea what to make of it. At first, it seemed universally hated but over time it slowly gained a strange sense of respect. Now that Chester's gone, its hard to gauge how the general fanbase feels about it, but I know I've grown to appreciate it more than ever before. Such a unique album.
I remember where I was. On the phone with a new girlfriend for the radio debut. She loved it. I absolutely hated it. Now its possibly my favorite 6 minutes of music ever mastered. The payoff is insane.
This song still gives me goosebumps when I hear it. It was so spot on in its message and it warned us of the disasters that could arise from us continuing to damage our world. At least that's the message I got from it. That album as a whole was probably my favourite LP album because they took a risk and experimented with styles they didn't normally use and it came together beautifully. Makes me miss the legendary Chester more than ever because his voice was just out of this world. Rest In Power Legend.
I literally thought the same. When I hear that song it is like they transmitting me how fucked up the world is in real and we all need to open our eyes. I mean we all know there are good and bad things but this highlights more that we need to see what is going on in our environment actually.
After "Crawling", "The Catalyst" has always been my favorite song of Linkin Park. Growing up this band was a staple to my daily soundtrack, especially when my only other escapes were reading or painting. I was a loner and so my only constant companions were my books and music. After some years I stopped listening to Linkin Park, my musical tastes expanded, I started listening to other musicians and genres that took up space and today that makes me sad. I feel like my heart is being squeezed by a cold hand. I still can't believe Chester Bennington is no longer with us but I hope and pray he's finally at peace. And I hope all the love and peace and resignation take over his family, wife, and children and eventually don't begrudge him for taking this fatal and final step to get rid of that horrifying, fanged demon that depression is. It's not that he didn't love them or they didn't mean anything to him, it's just that sadly, this horrible mind cancer was too aggressive to live with and not all the talent, money, fame, fans, and love of everyone around him could make it bearable to live with. It's so tragic and it really hurts me to the deepest point in my soul that some people find death the only possible cure to their pain. But I grew up with a suicidal parent, and after a lifetime of studying and researching and talking to them, I see that as heartbreaking as suicide is for those of us who stay behind, sometimes, if we really love our loved ones, we must understand that for them not allowing that horrible illness to keep constantly gnaw at their mind and distort their life is when they will finally be at peace. I hope that his kids love him and keep loving him even more now, and that they will hopefully someday understand that dad wasn't selfish, just a sensitive soul that life had thrown too much at him and just had to go.
AjaOfVeelox: You wrote a beautiful obituary--it's almost a song, it could become one. . ."a sensitive soul that life had thrown too much at, so he just had to go." I too had a suicidal parent, and after many years, am still conflicted about it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
first of I feel your pain I always loved linkinpark and I will always will but for chester to commit suicide is doughtful I heard he was after this big pedophile organization and they had to assassinate him otherwise why would he go to his friend s house to kill him self
@@bahaishtar4815, so what you are saying is that he was trying to capture/stop this pedophilia ring? Would make sense since he was sexually abused as a child and would to stop these sick gangs of freaks from hurting and scaring other children in the process. @@loganscott5992 the answer is neither teach people how to use guns right. And there will be no more issues. The reason people lack discipline is in it's own saying, nobody is teaching discipline. Everyone is thinking of either fight or flight, those are not the only options. Aren't we supposed to be sentient and past being bound only to animalistic urges? If people want to live in the past or take steps backwards in evolution, doesn't that mean they go extinct? So that explains why they are dying off. So much for their desperate temper tantrum screaming of survival of the fittest. A return is not the same as going backwards. If you talk genetics, then it could have been: it was carried all this time, or something similar came in, or something else. Those are not regression of genes. A regression of genes, however, is usually not good. Anyways there are other options. Like teaching responsibility and discipline. Sometimes it's not them, but the trainers, teachers, etc. If people mistrain or not train, what do you expect?
