UNE was founded on the footsteps of St. Francis College. Those who attended St. Francis College know the Core Values of Service , Community and dedication to Educational Growth as Life Long Learners.
For those of you who do not know SFC was ahead of the times especially in Education offering programs that allowed students to gain experience in the field years prior to student teaching. Many courses / internships included subjects / classroom experience in special education, guidance , testing , PE , and other areas that allowed one to be truly educated in every facet of the classroom / school. SFC prepared their students to be well rounded educators knowing ever aspect of teaching inside and outside of the classroom.
What an unbelievable program in the 70’s that allowed one many experiences before entering the world of teaching. I was far more prepared than many of my friends who graduated with a degree in Education yet lacked the preparation I had and were in awe of the internships available too me.
SFC was a blessing and I pray UNE continues the one of a kind Education everyone deserves in life. Thank You , SFC and UNE for moving forward and making a difference in the lives of all students, families and communities.
