When I saw him sing that song by Journey, I thought I was listening to Steve Perry in the flesh. I have never heard someone sound exactly like the real artist. Richard's voice is absolutely amazing and the fact that he is older and never gave up on his dream of singing. He puts all those that TRY to sing Steve Perry on 'The Voice' or 'AI', to shame. Yes there were some pitch issues when he sang with Journey, but he was freaking SINGING WITH JOURNEY!
I couldn’t think of a more deserving person than Richard. There was so much talent - and so an incredible shout out to all of those in the finals. There was something about Richard’s last performance that was epic! The nerves were completely gone.. Journey accompanying his performance ,and boy did He do it right!! Brent Street was definitely my next favorite.. Richard, I hope you know that you made so many of us feel wonderful watching you perform. You inspired millions of people God bless you and your family

I'm in Sydney, and watching this on Saturday arvo, and Richard has me dancing around the loungeroom! These are the songs the both Richard, and myself, grew up with - 70's and 80's rock - and his voice suits the style to a "T". When Simon was saying that he'd made the wrong song choice, all I was thinking was "Shut up Simon! You're an idiot"! And I am so glad that Richard stuck to his guns, as it was DEFINITELY the right choice. I just hope that Richard makes his way over to Australia, as I would pay to see him perform any day of the week!! 🇭🇲

Takes guts to get up anywhere and just belt your heart out to a bunch of strangers and then face judgment for it, takes courage and you can see it on him all the dang day long. It was about time we got back the real music. As a teenager in the 80s this is what was on the cassettes all over my town back home in Uganda, Africa. It was nice to get back the feeling teen years glad feelings:) Thanks Richard for sticking to your guns though Simon thought it was old fashioned.
