    Thank you for all the notes!!! Robert is hilarious!!! "this one's by jimmy hendy"... and "5-string top 20 is better than none at all" So good!

    I've always wanted to hear the Joy Division/The Cure sets from the night they played at the Marquee.

      I think Joy Division opened for them the week before, but there is no known recording of it. In fact this appears to be the first full Cure bootleg out there.

    That 10:15 Saturday Night speed version is soooooooo freaking amazing! I wish they would have done a studio version of this. I like it better than the original. So amazing and so punk!!!!!

      Joy Division supported them the week before in the same venue. Haven't found a bootleg of either band on that occasion.

    Nice, so he still played the Top 20 at that point? The sound's not that different from his Jazzmaster (which is understandable, since he put one of the Top 20 pickups in it)

    amazing set. you can definitely hear some of the early punk influence that faded away over time. anyone know how to get a mp3 version of this?

    • @simpletown323
      @simpletown323 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Google "TH-cam to mp3" and you'll find a bunch of sites where you paste the url in and they'll download the mp3 for you. Just be careful what site you go to lol

    Dempsey on base here (1978) who’s better Dempsey or Gallup?
    Consider their early recordings that still stand up to scrutiny, 17 seconds a good example!

      i always got confused...but im assuming Dempsey? It has to be, and he is definitely a beast of a bassist. Object, Grinding Halt, train.. have crazy basslines that arent obnoxious. the guitar parts arent as difficult. ive tried to learn object and gave up quick. smith was great, but minimal. more distinctive and a style he developed thats aped to this day.

    why does robert’s voice sound so different when he sings foxy lady??

    • @andrewzook1034
      @andrewzook1034 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Michael Dempsey sings on it. It's not Robert at all. I thought the same thing when I got the TIB album. Good catch!
