Survey response: Pod was good! Watched live with a delay on YT. No hiccups. Tam is a fun change of pace. I appreciate the overall theme of today's episode being "like what you like". Only note; maybe take a look at that PS5 pro price! A bit steep! You guys are in charge of that, right?
Came here from Apple Podcast to appreciate the episode. I thought Tan handled it really well with support from the rest. It was a very pleasant experience and I really liked the panel and discussion regarding the PS5 pro and games they were playing.
Me, a person who was a freshman in high school when the Dreamcast launched, jumping out the window when I heard Shawn say "That was like high school when we sort of rediscovered the Dreamcast a little bit because it had been a decade at that point at least."
Huh I didn't know until today Tam was such a big fan of Days Gone that he would claim it's the only game worth enhancing on the Pro and that every other Playstation game is garbage
Loved this Bombcast. Love the usual crew, but seeing a mix of people we don't usually see together is a lot of fun. Tam and Mike are especially great together.
Felt like the first time in ages where some mechanical failure didn't happen. Those new guys you hired (Jeff and Jan?) need to get it together! lol For real though, great podcast. 💘
So laughable. Who cares if the Ps5pro makes stuff prettier. Sony would be better off investing the production costs into evolving & fortifying their 1st-Party Gameplay to avoid more Concord Live Service embarrassments or mismanaging Naughty Dog into wasting a half-decade on Live Service inexperience. Doubling down on this Ps5 Generation isn't worth it, & even if it was, might as well take that (Ps5+Ps5pro) $1250 & the eventual Ps6's $800 to build a good Upgradeable PC. No wonder some of my fellow-Americans are struggling economically throwing money at such an intergenerational, shallow dead-end by Sony. The ~$800 Ps6 is, what?...3 years away. $700 for just flashy shallowness. Pass. Oh, & Days Gone on Base Ps5 kicked butt. Tam's spot on! Returnal's super good, too! But yeah, that might be it for Sony AAA on the Ps5 so far for non-Remasters/Remakes.
Banging line up ! I really like what Nikki and Shawn bring to the table. Also, why is Tam the single most interesting person to listen to in games media ?
Regarding Astro Bot, I'm surprised no one is disappointed in how short the game is. I beat it in under 7 hours, and that's with me taking my time to explore. I have 9 hours into it and I've done as much as I care to do in this game. I liked the game, but it feels really lean on content.
I feel like sometimes I am getting talked down to on GB just because I don't want to build a PC. I have the means, capability, have done it before and am just not interested. Anyone in tune enough with video games to listen to these oldheads obviously knows that PCs can be more powerful and can be built relatively cheaply, that's not the point. Like Niki said there are a subset of people who just want the simplicity of plugging a thing into a TV and leaving it. I don't think this group of people should be implied to be idiots or ignorant of the alternatives just because you have a preference.
Yeah I feel the same. GB put up polls on what platform you would be playing X game on and the consoles always dominate the results. I personally have no interest in getting a PC. I just want the best that a console has to offer whether it's Nintendo, Xbox or Playstation.
I disagree with Shawn Sony should try to be a Nintendo the more you put games to other consoles the more you devalue the box the more subscriptions you lose those are huge revenue streams for Sony, you might sell more games on other things ultimately you crash your other business. Sony needs to stop chasing horse power in the consoles make that shit cheaper and figure out how to shrink dev time.
43% faster gpu (their numbers, so probably not that good in reality) for almost double the cost... yeah no thank you. I'm sitting here with a Switch and mid range PC laughing. I'll plug my PS4 back in to play Bloodborne once a year. See you next gen Sony.
1:29:00 You guys constantly take the stance that gamers are wretchedly poor and gamers constantly prove this stance wrong. We saw no meaningful evidence that $70.00 games were a problem. PS5 came sold out at launch and the gaming population at large was willing to pay over $1000.00 for them. To this day mobile games regularly generate revenue that dwarfs console because more casual gamers are okay dropping $200 in a year on a single game....some will drop $500 every two weeks. You also people who own every console available at any given time. People who justify buying A GAME THEY ALREADY OWN on another platform. People who will pay $20.00 for skins. People who will pay $10 to play a game 4 DAYS EARLY. People paying for season passes and never getting around to using them. You keep saying it...but gamers ARE NOT PRICE SENSITIVE. If that wasn't enough then consider this...game companies largely base the success of their game on its first months sales. In what world does that suggest gamers are price sensitive? I'm poor. I buy most games after they've been out 1-2 years. There are plenty out there like me....none of us matter to these big game companies. A game is considered a failure or success long before someone like me buys it. These are the business actions of a price sensitive industry. I'm confident Switch 2 could sell for $1299.99 and it would be impossible to find on store shelves in the first 3 months at launch. Nintendo could very slowly roll that price back over the course of years and the market would reward them. They people who buy Plus versions of consoles will buy this PS5. They'll give away their base model to family or friends or sell them or just have two consoles. I see no reason why this would bomb. Especially since console lifecycles are much longer with the catering to prior generations. The PS5 will probably be relevant at 4 years into the PS6 lifecycle as games released will come out for both for a very long time.
@@AntiSocialHero Try reading the comment next time. I said I'm poor and buy games 1-2 years after release within the post. I even pointed out how gaming companies don't consider my demo when talking about game successes or failures.
PS4 Pro was about 13% of the PS4 install base. This is 33% more expensive and won't be the performance leap of the PS4 Pro. Yes it will sell out at launch, because people with more money than sense will always do that, but I bet by summer next year PS5 Pros will be sitting on shelves. Which base PS5's weren't for over 18 months. We should be allowed to criticise greedy corpo decisions. Your argument is that because insane fanboys who will buy anything will buy this that people on podcasts can't say that gamers are price sensitive. You admit yourself that you are not one of them, neither am I, and as you can see in the reactions to this announcement most people listening to gaming podcasts aren't either. So GB should be allowed to speak to their audience, who as we can see are price sensitive. Just because corpos in the exec suites don't factor us in to their decisions doesn't mean we should roll over and say thank you.
@@richardthomas8371 Fair points. I think the new longer life cycle of consoles means the PS5 Pro will have a longer shelf life for people and that will boost its sales. I don't think your points are wrong here. Next summer there will be plenty of these on shelves...but I guess where we might be butting heads here is that I don't think this is a big mistake by Sony. In my opinion this won't be a financial flop or some public embarrassment for them. I think the market will accept this price point just fine. I'd rather it didn't...but I don't see gaming consumer pushback find success all that often with the one major exception being NFT's in video games (kudos to gamers there for sure). If I'm wrong that's a good thing. I don't want these corporations to get away with big price changes on incremental value adds (arguably a downgrade due to no disc). Steam Deck did a consumer friendly upgrade with their OLED modelm coming with like 2 dozen QoL improvements attached and a reasonable price jump. Great. I would love for Sony to feel forced to do that sort of thing as well in order to get away with this. I just don't think gamers are going to push back on this one. Honestly the biggest point I'm uncertain about here is the disc drive combined with the price. I don't know how many people these days will consider that a step too far.
Why does this episode feel like big brother Tam hanging out with his siblings despite Mike being older lol

I asked for this... just not at 950 canadian rubbles
I hope it’s Eternal Ring 2 and not Elden Ring 2

Apropos of nothing, absolutely based Tekken playlist on that standby music

That was a really fun show.
I’m gonna laugh when GTA6 comes out with no performance options for either platform.
Is it [the PS5 Pro] not a product for the people who buy 3080s, 4080s, 4090s etc?
Tam is doing a good job hosting!
