    Question: Is power limited by max MP since there doesn't appear to be a torque gauge? Also, is the engine rpm set into the green arc and left there, or do you need constant throttle adjustments to keep up with collective demands? Sorry if the questions don't make any sense, and I'm probably not wording them correctly...clueless about helicopters

      Enstrom do not use a governor so manual throttle is required, however you can upgrade to a correlator which will twist the throttle for you when raising/lowering the collective which is the next best thing to a governor, requiring only minor adjustments in flight

    Why did you change mixture control settings instead of inceasingr RPM with throttle

    • @hondo500e
      @hondo500e  ปีที่แล้ว

      The pilot changed the mixture setting to either decrease or increase the inlet temperature of the engine. Then he used the mixture at the beginning to start because it’s fuel injected.

    Too high initial RPM on engine start. Should be lower than your 2000rpm. I can see the oil and cht were cold. You could increase the engine lifetime by not exceeding 1200rpm on cold start.

      Yeah I agree with ya. We had a mechanic that rigged it that way where the RPM sat up at 2100RPM with the engine running and the clutch not engaged. It since then has been fixed and it sits way lower than 2000 RPM now. Also using a new mechanic now so that always helps.

      @@hondo500e Ahh - you were on idle and still got 2000rpm? Yeah - good idea to adjust :) Really nice helicopter! Thanks for video!

    Why does the engine RPM drop when the rotors start spinning?

    • @rhettscal
      @rhettscal 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When the clutch engages, the engine RPM drops due to the load of accelerating the the rotor.

    Correlater keeps it at a flight power with only minor power adjustments.

    wat did u poke on white device above flight instrument panel?

      It’s an old school gps receiver for the Garmin 696. The owner said it was once a top notch piece of equipment. Thank you for watching!

    Very vice! Thanks for sharing! What was that lever he pulled up & locked with his right hand at 1:13???

      That was the clutch which engages the rotor blades. The Enstrom pistons have a manual clutch unlike the Robinson’s which have the electrical switch. Thanks for watching.

      @@truckerray7533 no helicopter can use direct drive as the weight of the blades are too heavy for the engine to turn from 0 RPM

    Is there a way of cushioning those vibrations?🤔

    • @hondo500e
      @hondo500e  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, this bird needed some track and balance work done on the rotors.

      all helicopters vibrate to some degree
