Some of these joints are nearly impossible if you're using the "iron wood" class of lumber from tropical forests. Teak is easier to work and lasts a long time if the lumber is processed properly. But in Indonesia there are lots of species that are exponentially stronger and harder to work with.
По той же сосне, чтоб откололся кусок в неподходящий момент. А исторически - это связано с отсутствием достаточного количества длинных качественных брусков во многих регионах Японии. Вот и изгалялись как могли, соединяя короткие бруски и брусья.
This is not wood you buy at home depot or lowes. This is very expensive hardwood. Most people have never had the opportunity to work with these woods. His hand tools are very sharp to work this wood so exactly.
While much of this joint work is at a Mastercraftman's level, I think they are needlessly overly complex at times. It's enjoyable to watch but this level takes years a practice to achieve.

Kemarin aku nemuin sambungan kayu kaya video di atas di rumah jadul orang zaman dulu tahun 1991 tapi sambungannya cuma 2 biji aja ngga sampai 3 biji. Awet banget sampai sekarang masih bisa dijual

Wooden construction in Japan takes about 7 months at most.
日本の木造建築が全て釘を使わないわけではない。
普通に釘を使う家の方が多いです。
釘を使わない家は、「街に一つある」程度です。
ちなみに日本の建築はなかなか早いと思っていて、取り壊された家を見たら、半年から一年で工事が終わります。
日本の文化を理解してくれて嬉しいです。
そのため、今はこの工法で建てられる一般住宅はありません。時間がかかり高価になり過ぎるからです。この工法は神社、仏閣など特別な建物を作る時にしか使われません。しかし、継承され保存される価値があるものだと感じています。

목조 건물을 사용하던 한국과 일본의 건물들은 이런 식으로 건물을 만들긴 했지요. 목재의 특성상 쇠못을 쓰는 것보다 나무들끼리 절묘하게 결합되는 게 더 튼튼하게 지탱이 되었고요. 과거 조선의 전함인 판옥선 또한 이런 방식으로 건조되었던 걸로 배웠네요.
