Vallejo Metal Colors is a good choice if you want to avoid lacquers. I don't use Vallejo primer at all. If you have to sand an area it won't feather out. Nice job on your paint scheme. scheme.

I don't use water-based acrylics, but if you want to try lacquers, Mr Color's Super Metallic 2 series works very well in my experience.

Yep Metal Color for me too - but over Stynylrez gloss black primer. This primer really sands well and can also be nicely polished. Ammo Atom yellow covers much better than Model Air and the red's great too. I'll have to try the Vallejo Poly gloss varnish; I can thoroughly recommend VMS though.

Yes i imagine, the Atom paints have great coverage, having their yellow wouldnt be too bad (and might as well get a better red).
I will get some VMS paints to have a look how they performe
      Thanks for the feedback!

Sometimes it feels like this hobby is 90% masking. Usually the most interesting schemes have many different sections, bands, stripes etc. It's a PITA to mask, but the the end result is worth the effort. I use MRP and Mr Color metallics.

I dont mind a good masking session but this one was insane. But its like you describe, the most interesting are usually the most demanding.

I'm in the middle of building what has to be the worst "new" release 1/72 P-51D from "Forces of Valour", it looks like a Mustang is the kindest thing you can say for it. So I've used it to test out AK Extreme Metal and Vallejo metal colours. Very impressed with both and as my supplies of Humbrol enamels runs down (but that won't be for a while yet) will probably end up being my go to finish for NMF. I usually mix what types of paint I use dependant on what I need and in what order to produce my finishes, this P-51 has used 8 colours, 7 metallics and a Tamiya blue mix and I also discovered I can use the Vallejo to "dry brush " accents and worn NMF over the AK colours to produce even more variation. Nice vid, can't wait to get my hands on this Eduard Mustang, looking forward to more!!

Yes Vallejo Metal Colours are very impressive, after doing this video i will not get any other Metallic paint from Vallejo. AK extreme is up next for a test😄.

The new Ammo Atom metal acrylics are pretty good and a new Mr Hobby Aqeoours number 01 Fine Silver is great too..there's a new formula Model Air coming out soon too which might be worth checking out as the old one isn't the best..to me it ''Spatters'' on..not sprays on

Yes, its exactly what i've experienced in this paint job, the model air metallics spattered, the Vallejo metal colours have a great flow in the airbrush
      Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the great content! I've only done one all metal B-24 and I used Tamiya Acrylic. It came out okay, but the finish was a bit rough.

How long did you leave between primer and paint? And how long from paint to mask???
