What do the buttons that launch fireworks do, if anything? I’ve spent 20 minutes pressing them and they don’t seem to do anything but launch fireworks.
They got a purpose since the temple fair update, it changes the last theme of the level that has the fireworks if you press all of them, although you mightve now already known that...

They're just launching fireworks, so you can just skip them if you want
