    For that money, I just buy 4 premium charging cables from Anker and I can use them all at the same time, to charge different devices.

      For multiple fast charging, modular, coiled, braided, durable cables, and indicator lights and some accessories, 100$ is not that unreasonable. If you are looking for a cable that has every single one of these features it's going to cost more than your average cable. I wouldn't buy it, but I'm pretty sure there is a market for cables of this quality.

  • @alwade24
    @alwade24 ปีที่แล้ว +87

    Interesting product idea. All I can think of with the coiled cable though is how irritating it would be to have your cable constantly pulling on whatever you're using (ipad, iPhone, MacBook). The resistance may not be much, but that constant pulling seems like it would get old pretty fast, and probably wouldn't be very good on the ports it's plugged into. But maybe the whole intent is to use it purely as an extender, where it hopefully won't be putting tension on the device anyway.

    • @davidbelecci6970
      @davidbelecci6970 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed. Moreover the whole thing is sort of plannend obsolescence; almost all devices, even Apple’s, charge with USB C. iPhone and iPad will likely switch this year. Of course not everyone immediately has the latest Apple stuff, but in a few years lightning connector is just a relic like the 30 pin is now. Now the cable is nothing more than an expensive extension cord. Of course the color scheme is also quite taste sensitive, it really does not blend in subtle in its surroundings, let’s put it that way.
      Just buy a couple high quality USB C cables of like 3 lengths, and 1-2 GaN chargers (I would suggest 1 high power multi port for home/travel and 1 small one you trow in your bag), and you’re set.

    I now have two of these and assemble them all together for a super long charging cable.
    But the reviewer missed out the BEST feature.
    Each mini cable has a led built in which indicates, green when it’s not charging, blue for normal charging and yellow for super fast charging over 15w.
    It’s great in the dark , you can easily see the end of your cable and plug it in and see immediately if it’s charging at max speed.

  • @KaelCan
    @KaelCan ปีที่แล้ว +8

    These cables violates the USB-C product specifications. I can see manufacturers, voiding your warranty by using a cable like this. Data transfer with this cable. Probably not or USB 2 speeds data transfer speeds. Does it go over 3A? If so, it could damage your equipment.

    • @PatrickRambles
      @PatrickRambles  ปีที่แล้ว

      How does it violate the specifications?

    • @KaelCan
      @KaelCan ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Short version. It removes safety features of USB-C. The charger is not able to read multiple e-mark chips. If you connect a cheap cable that only supports 20 W use an extension and put 240 W through , could cause a fire. The reversibility of the USB-C cable relies on two pins. An extension prevents this from working. There is a reason only the tiny end is MFI certified. Even Apple doesn’t like extensions. A longer cable will also cause power drop resulting in charging problems.

    • @xe-wf5iv
      @xe-wf5iv ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KaelCan USB cables are passive, just copper wire. There is nothing in the USB-C specification that requires a specific watt rating of a cable. Just like for home electricity there is no specific requirement for the watts your extension cable should handle. There is no safety feature built into the USB-C specification to check the wire gauge used in your USB-C cable. Worse case scenario the user melts a cable and that is 100% on them for using a cheep cable.
      USB-C is 100% reversible, there are no "two pins" that care about orientation as you claim.
      A longer cable will just drop the max attainable watts, okay so what? That happens with any USB cable used. You would need a 50+ foot cable before you have "charging problems", it would just charge slower.

    • @MacGeier
      @MacGeier 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The cable claims to transport up to 240 watts, which is only possible with the power delivery protocol. The PD protocol requires active circuitry in all participating components - the PSU, the device receiving the power AND the cable.

    I bought something like this from Dewalt. It was 10 feet, looked durable and was coiled and braided. It never worked and cos I did not use right away, I only received store credit and was at an odd sale price. While, I'd like something like this, I still have buyer's remorse from my last purchase. Also, if anyone knows, how does this compare to the Glorious cable. Both products look nearly the same. (Right now, I only use braided HeyDey cables in the 10 food variant for about $25.00. Very good quality and last much longer than Apple cables and the length is great.) This video is nearly un unboxing, so I dont think it speaks to the durability of the cables. Thanks for any input from those who have experience.

Total: a measly 200 bucks. That might sound like a bargain.. but hold on there is more.. you got yourself a spring-loaded cable that will drag the whole iPhone out of your hand if you let it slip. premium look, feel and pricing. That's all ok, but I think the long coiled extension is possibly a design problem - yes it coils up and packdown really nicely. It's much more elegant than velcro loops and all that. But a cable with no coils doesn't want to recoil and thus won't put any extra tension on the port at either end. The screw securing ends are cool, and add to that premium feel, but I'd actually rather have _that_ be the point a cable accidentally comes unplugged from - like if someone walks into it, you're taking stresses away from the device port. A "not quite magsafe".
    I did balk at the pricing at first... but then it actually isn't so bad for the 100W+ cables, and for MFi certified lightning. I think those are the points that actually make it a decent cable set. (I wish the long coiled cable was un uncoiled male-to-male, and had a very short "female-to-female" so each cable was usable in it's own right. But maybe I'm getting into "that's a grat toaster.. but why can't it charge my phone and send emails?" territory)

I have ordered the newer one as well to test out - seems to be the cable to go for. 100 watts and seems to work with all my stuff, which is kinda unusual these insane days... Remember to pull in both when you first pull it out so you do not ruin the cable pulling and extraction thingy! Although they do not do 240 watts, but I have nothing of that level anyway, only bearly some 100 watts powerbanks so... Works great and is my prime cable now.

    Yes, but they don’t cost 209 for the cheap one. I know I can buy the apple ones and they last for years and I’ve never ever going out of my way to say you know what that’s been 209 for a cable now if it recharged my watch, my MacBook my phone as well as my iPad and I had some cool wireless charging features as well as some other stuff that came with it that I might see spending 209, but I really don’t see spending 209 for that cable just because a curls up and you can put it together and do a few tricks. Yes, you said that it it charges fast but the other problem is if it’s not worn if it’s like not an apple product or Apple recognizes that third product. Your warranty is out of service that means even if you’re in the year warranty or even if you paid for the three year warranty, and I found out that you were using that Pacific kind of charger and it wasn’t covered why your warranty is no longer valid I don’t like that it only comes with four cables to extension. I’m not sure how these cables would have to last for years to validate the price they would have to give like a lifetime warranty, but all sorts of other stuff for anybody to be like you know this is worth the price.

      @@PatrickRambles OK well you started making any other comments about the mayor Fakear Apple does not guarantee this product or has it on their lineup edit anything goes wrong with this wiring say if it shorts and ruins your product you are responsible for amount of that product because if they find out that they were eBay you were not using an Apple product or one that’s a license by them or even a third-party license you will have to do the full coverage of your laptop your iPad or your iPhone a no comment about that and I find that a little unresponsible for someone that’s recommending a charger for a laptop that’s around $2000, 2000 and $3000 just starting price and your phone cost anywhere from that price as well $1000-$2000 for your phone depends how many gigabytes you get but those are things that need to be told to the consumer when they buy such products and still $89 is a bit much now if they had the I watch charger and a lifetime warranty I might validate that $89 but still it’s a bit high and I would rather buy an apple charger that guarantees that if it goes out and will replace that item because of their faulty product and they’ve done it I’ve had a laptop that burnt out because of them and they actually refurbish my laptop gave me a new charger and everything because of their one product that one out but two years ago I gave a phone that had a third-party charge they did not cover it because it was not licensed or even a high recommended by Apple so they said that they would not cover it so you have to be very careful of what charger you get for your device

    I purchased the Aohi 40w fast charger and it gets very hot charging my iPhone 11 and 13 Pro. it does not have MFi, UL, CE or CSA certification. It does have an FCC certification, which I think only covers frequencies emitted from the device, can anyone verify this. I really liked the size and shape of this device but I have not had another charger run this hot before, so I am going to return it. Has anyone else noticed this?

      I’d just as soon pick up a lifetime Anker cable myself for around 12 bucks, and they’ll replace it if necessary. Not that I have ever asked them to unless they fail within a year. Think I’ve done that exactly once.
      Not a shitty option IMO. Despite the euffy dramarama (yep, Anker bought into a company with existing poor security) I still trust Anker cables and chargers.

    This looks like a really nice cable(s). I LOVE cables. My wife doesn’t get me with the cable thing though.
    I wished the cable was available now, rather than on Kickstarter. I’ve been burned three times over the years from Kickstarter projects taking your money and then never fulfilling their obligation to complete and deliver the product. I’d rather wait until it hits the market and I’ll pay the regular price; which I’m sure will come down in time.
    Another great one, Patrick!
