This never should have been implemented by cities. It is double taxation (they already tax the property owner who passes that cost to the renters in their rent) on people that are the least able to hire lawyers and fight back.
If cities need more money to balance their budget, that is the intended purpose of property tax.

This is exactly the type of ridiculous tax that needs to go away. Just sound that out for a moment and let it gel: Transaction Privilege Tax. WTFFFFF

Are you kidding me, renters are going to save some money? Nope, the landlords will pocket the money. 😢

Here in Payson, our town council are a bunch of spending fools. No doubt they will whine about this loss. We need balanced budgets EVERYWHERE, (federal, state and local) and we need to vote on every penny they are spending!

This isn't going to put any money back in your pocket. Landlords will keep your rent the same and pocket the extra. If you are lucky you might get 10% while they keep 90%.

Landlords didn’t keep the tax to begin with, the state did.

Yes I wouldn’t expect to see your rent change. I’d expect to see it go right in their pocket.

What they needed to do is flip it around if you're a renter you should be able to deduct it from your taxes not the person that's benefiting the most the owner the owner gets to keep the rent money the increase in value of the house and tax deductions are you kidding

This isn't about landlords, it's about the government charging you for the "privilege" of paying rent.

Tell the state they can use the lottery to pay off what they claim to be missing. It was supposed to go toward teachers anyways. Feel free to take it out these Republican salaries since they evade taxes so much
