Aawe is located 5.0 kilometres north of Oyo State's capital, Ibadan, and 55 kilometres south of Ogbomoso. It is approximately two miles south of Oyo town. Awe, like all Yoruba towns and cities, has a plethora of rivers and streams flowing north-south, nourishing the various farms, fishing operations, factories, and commercial ventures that characterize the livelihood of the majority of its people.
Aawe may be considered a tiny town when compared to other popular towns and cities of the traditional Oyo people, such as Ibadan, Ogbomoso, Iseyin, Saki, or Oyo town itself. 'Facts speak louder than statistics,' according to Geoffrey Streatfield.
