Congratulations, Nicole! You're doing great. I'll tell you what I, personally, like about your channel: you get to the point right away and stay on point throughout each video. You always keep your focus on the topic and not on yourself. There's no cutesy editing or funny voice-manipulations, or humble-bragging, "aren't I adorkable" filler. As you get more views, maybe you can add interviews with other FIRE/Frugal voices like Mr. Money Moustache (a fellow Canadian) or Frugalwoods, etc. Anyway, continued success! Would love a year-end update.

I've been doing youtube for a year and a half now and not yet monetized. Crazy to think that just one video can get your channel out there. 😊 One day haha I have almost 600 subscribers now

It's funny I saw that first video when I just started. I'm closing in on 2K subs, but have a lot of work to when it comes to getting to the 3K mark for watch hours, but my long forms are getting better and better it's only a matter of time. Hi Nicole, as far as I know you are unique on YT for me. Living a simple life, and being down to earth like you and posting it on YT, is rather unique. Of course, since I started to watch your videos today, I will probably get more suggestions on videos with comparable content, which might make your content less unique as I thought it was 😉
To answer your question, TONS of value! That was very inspiring....that $4000 month would make a huge dent in my house savings. I reserved a YT name quite a while ago, but was too afraid to start. In the hopes it'll help others, I'm going to pull the plug and get 'er done. I always throw you a like and have been subbed for a while now. Love this for you!

Congratulations and I love your videos. Your truthfulness has attracted me to your channels. It seems summer months are a little more slower because people are vacationing and not watching too many videos during that timeframe. But this winter, you better kick ass with your revenues.
Thank God for ad blocker programs, YT would be unbearable without it. I'm sure many will criticize that, but even though I could have been monetized many years ago, I refuse to play the YT money game. I also don't have sponsors, affiliate links or any way to donate. I have a personal hatred towards any advertising, it's a hidden tax we all pay for everything we need, not just want. Even though I am not monetized, YT still runs ads on my videos. I find that the YT algorithm purposely deranks me and plays other games to punish my channel and has prevented my channel from growing for many years now. Even though I never intended to make any money here, I also had expected my channel to continue to grow with my hard work, but the bots are programmed to prevent that.
Kudos to you! I recently I have been getting pop-ups from TH-cam saying that ad blockers are not allowed on TH-cam. Pretty satisfying that I have pissed off a bot!

Apparantly, I have zero tolerance for ads because I’ve had TH-cam premium for years just to avoid them all. I don’t know how this impacts TH-camrs, but if I had to watch ads, I’d skip You Tube altogether!😊

Thanks for sharing. My husband has a channel and people see one successful channel in our niche and think oh I can do it too and make lots of money. Then they pour tons of money into creating a channel - new equipment, paying for streamyard and editing software. They forget how long it takes to actually make money and how much you end up making. We only have 1750 subs but make about 10% of your highest month. Which I think for us that is awesome and we never put any money into it to start. It was something to help my husband with his MS and I was like yeah do it but we arent buying anything to start this. After a year of being monetized we finally got some equipment but only spent the amount YT sent for that month only.

For not having photography experience and stuff, your lighting and sound are top notch. Better than many “professionals” I’ve watched. I can’t get mine to look or sound good at all (of course I’m not photogenic either, so there’s that, lol).
So I'm very much still learning. I'm often dissatisfied with my audio quality but it's actually because I don't have any rugs in my house so it comes across echoey at times. In this video it's decent because I'm sitting pretty close the mic which makes a big difference.
I also rely heavily on natural light because I can't seem to get a look I'm happy with artificial lighting... though I probably need to invest in a good studio light for that.
Anyways, having a good camera with solid autofocus and good colours has been key. All the gear I use is linked in the description.
