  • Nothing too fancy. Just a good walk through of how you can combine the Rich Text Editor control and the SharePoint multiple lines of text field to make nicer looking text. Basically it is all HTML at the end of the day. Also, explanation of column size limits for SharePoint. 255 vs. 63,999. 😯

    Tip for avoiding some errors. Rename the control you're going to delete before you delete it to the name you want to use for the new control. PowerApps will automagically change all the necessary formulas. You may have to change a few things in some cases, but that's a timesaver for me.

    Hello Shane,
    Thank you for your video. I admire your energy and I quite understand that you can't answer all the questions from all over the world.
    What I don't understand is: Fonts and for example line spacing between SharPoint and PowerApps are quite different.
    I don't think you can set the text edit control to fixed values. I'll just mention something. verdane 12 points.
    If you retrieve text from sharepoint and want to edit in Power Apps then it becomes chaos regarding fonts and line spacing.
    Wish you a nice December month....
    Frans

    • @callfusion2012
      @callfusion2012 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've found that if you create the texts in Power Apps, not SharePoint, you have less of a hassle with line spacing, for example.

      If SharePoint is getting changed outside of the app (like by someone in another app) then your session doesn't know about it. You might need to add a periodic Refresh in the app that forces Power Apps to recheck the data source. Refresh is usually bad idea but probably your only option.

    New to powerapps, I have a problem I'm hoping you can work your magic on.
    Imagine having a gallery of employees, click one, it brings you to a form of their data pulled from sharepoint, then also on that page would be a gallery that would draw files based on that employee's id number from a sharepoint document library (all files have a consistent naming convention based on the relevant persons id#). So you click on employee# AA001, you go to a page that pulls their info (both fed from the same sharepoint list), and then you click a button like "Yearly Reviews" and the button does pulls a gallery of all files from a sharepoint document library that start with AA001. Does all that make sense?

    • @scoozilife
      @scoozilife 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So you could create an object variable on select when the original selection is made. When you navigate to the form/gallery screen you will then have to pass thay object /var to thay 2nd screen. The next step is to filter your SP list based on the ID of that variable you passed in from the first screen. The list should then only display entries where the user ID is 'AA001' or whatever other one you select.
      I would also advise looking on the powerapps forums. I'm on there answering questions as well as people much more knowledgeable than me, such as Master Shane 🙌, and there are almost no problems that don't get solved there. Good luck mate!

      Text label capture a new line character if you hit enter. Rich Text Editor captures an HTML I am pretty sure. So how they display after the fact is dependent on if you what you are using to display the data. I know that isn't an exact answer but hopefully gives you the pieces to think about.

    Is there a way to add table using the rich text editor? or a work around?

      Hmmm. I haven’t tried. Nothing comes off the top of my head. Sorry. Do you just need to collect table data? Maybe put it in a collection and then use Concat to create an html table.

      @@ShanesCows not really, I just mean a table in a old-fashion way, if I copy-paste a table from a word file or a excel file, it's nice to be able to add images or links but no table, it's just so wierd....it's like one of the most commonly used function in MS Office...maybe this seems a little abrupt, but love your videos and feel so lucky to see your comment to me!

    Hi @Shane, you mention you don't use Forms. Can i ask why? What is the pro and con compared to patch?

      It is on the list of videos to make. 😀 Long story short forms don't allow a lot of control and can't do complex things so for me they rarely fit.

      @@ShanesCows so to be clear you just build your own forms using patch statements as they provide more of an open sandbox where you can be much more fancy and have more complete logic? This is what I do but I assumed I was breaking the 'meta' by not using the built ins. They just seem lackluster as the come...

    Can you push enhanced rich text from sharepoint into Microsoft Word using the premium connector and maintain the formatting? i.e. (If you make a bulleted list in a power app can you push that list into Word?)
