When I left 1SG in around 2006, the RSM , Capey (cannot remember his right name) was one of the last serving Falklands vets in the battalion (there was no 2SG at this point, just 1st btn) . And a madman, but thats the ras mans job, make sure everyone you pass goes 'oh fuck, are we in good order,? What can he do us for?' The man managed to find something no matter how shiny and properly pressed and clean uniforms were. Extra guard duty all round. God I miss those days!
I would not assume that Margaret Thatcher is a heroine to an awful lot of the British people. In fact, some of us Brits could take umbrage against Argentina, for it precisely because of your invasion of the Falklands, that we had to endure another 8 years of destructive Thatcherite policies that decimated whole swaths of British industry and set brother against brother. Look at 1984's miniers strikes for example of brutality wreaked on family men trying to save their jobs and support their families.
Laurence has the life of jam, married an heiress, and still gives it grizzle large to the newspapers when he can...at least he survived, he’s a boring old man with his story, but alive.
His platoon respected him, he wanted to go, if any country wants to win a war soldiers have to get in and kill the enemy at close quarters. I didn’t have the cojones to do that. Lawrence and several others did
No you won't. It's a piece of land that unanimously voted to stay British. It is British and will be defended as such. Many young men died on that piece of land, men with futures. Stop being blind to it - unless you want to die, cold, thinking of home on top of a piece of rock?
My dad fought on tumbledown. Robert Wright from crosshill fife Scotland.
May the Lord always shine his love on you & your family.

I doubt that. Which company?

Bill Slaney was my Platoon SGT in Northern Ireland, fantastic guy.
Colin Atkinson thank you so much. I shall let him know. He is my lifetime hero and everyone else who represented the Scots Guards
