He plays sequences, which are a particular category of preset sounds and with pre-packaged sequences ( This video is about an additional sound pack for a plugin ). You can play them with your own chords, or digging deeper you can tweak every aspect of them on any sound, plus the expansion (which needs the basic VPS Avenger plugin) can be used with single sounds (which are identical to those you hear in the sequences, included in the price of the expansion, including drums) for an arrangement by programming the rhythms and melodies to your liking, including the tone that can be completely modulated by the multiple possibilities of the VPS Avenger plugin (provided you do it for each single instance inside the plugin or use them with a specific DAW program such as ableton, Reaper or Cubase )
Avenger really should become the ultimate VSTi synth arranger - I mean, with every sound expansion included it would probably cost the equivalent of a Yamaha Genos, but it would be formidable (and unequalled, perhaps?). I'm very impressed with Avenger - turns out, it's far more than the slick, simple synth I bought a few years back.
