It’s most likely going to be for me too! I’ve never gotten to ride anything that is fun or made for biking. Salina doesn’t have those types of things anymore. Not even the old roller rink. Ah but who cares; we-well just the dad of a dude I met at work-invented the pop-a-shot!
There are different levels of loops for riders to do. You may have found the more challenging level required for the first part of your ride to be more enjoyable but the trails were probably laid out that way with intention so that all levels of riders could enjoy the trails. Thanks for stopping off in fly-over country. Although outsiders may find it hard to believe, there are many great opportunities for cyclists of all kinds in Kansas. Great video. Come back to Kansas anytime!
Honestly people think it would be easy being a pro TH-camr. When you look at the quality of his and fellow Seth and Alex's vids, this guy as figured it out good too. Reciting the bits of history he just learned, whilst riding kinda amazes me. Don't get me wrong I am yapping about with buddies while riding haha but dunno I could learn a short monologue by heart and just spew it out while biking hehe
I love when he almost started to complain about the ride even though it's some of the nicest single track and then he quickly reminds himself to be positive
This was a pleasant surprise. It's finding out about new trails in unexpected places that led me to be a Patreon sponsor of the channel. I do most of my riding on Mt. Diablo but I have gone to Rock City a couple of times as evidenced by the scars on my shins. ha ha. Happy trails ! John
that first 10 is what all of New England is for riding. Mostly XC with lots and lots and lots and lots of rock tech features like that. I cant wait for you to come up this way.
Hey there , I live in Kansas City and recently started following your page during quarantine time. My boyfriend is actually an amazing , seasoned mountain bike rider I am not. He was surprised you didn’t hit some of the trails in Kansas City area. There are many amazing trails we think you would enjoy. Just letting you know You missed some cool stuff when you were in the Midwest! Thank you for your content.
My home trails! I grew up in Wilson and starting mountain biking out at the lake! I've now upgraded my MTB scenery to Montana, but I still ride Switchgrass everytime I'm back in Kansas!
Running a trail race here October 1! Nice footage of the course! Can't wait to watch your videos! I'm running 50 states! This year I did Kansas and Utah! Next Year is the JFK 50 mile in Maryland and a nude 5k in Texas!
Absolutely have to agree with you Brian, from all I saw, that was an awesome trail, doesn't always have to be hard charging DH to be fun, definitely my kind of thing as well, loved the part right on the edge next to the lake.
My brother moved to Wichita. So flat. He showed my where the kids sled in the winter; It was an embankment for an overpass. The strangest thing was swimming in the Arkansas River (really wading, it’s so shallow).....it was warm! Being from the Pacific NW, I’ve never experienced a river that wasn’t ice cold.
Great video and you did Lake Wilson justice by showcasing it! My family and I have made trips out there from Utah and Colorado a few different times and it’s a great place to spend a family vacation! Why you ask...my father in law is from Kansas!
I'm in topeka and need to go to KC and ride those trails. I was thinking the same thing so many other places that have great trails in Kansas. I was told that Wilson is an epic ride.
Wilson state park is fucking awesome. I stopped here twice on my cross country road trip. In a vast sea of nothingness, this place is a damn emerald city. Great place to stop when you’re headed down I-70
Glad you could make out here to KS! There's lot of good riding in KC too, on both sides of the state line. I'd also like to point out that there are 6 states flatter than KS: FL, IL, ND, LA, MN, and DE.
I’m glad you enjoyed KS! My wife is from Wichita. I lived there from 96-2012 when we moved here to Cocoa, FL by the Space Center. It’s never calm, always windy there. I think I’ve told you I’m retired airline. When I would fly small aircraft there we could fly backwards! When you talked about the bird, I was reminded of that. We would slow down as slow as possible, the wind would push us backwards! Lol! GPS would show 0!
It's true, Wilson Lake and Switchgrass are like a little Oasis of cool in the middle of the prairie! I'm going to try it again in the fall, it was 95 plus when I was there but without the wind.
Wilson is fun and your video was great but I really hope you got to ride some other places in Kansas on the East side of the state, so many cool trails! I just found your channel and am really loving it!
When I rode this trail for the first time, I was blown away by the rocks and the lake side trail. Such an awesome trail. We always ride this trail on the way to Colorado.
Brown county state park, in Indiana, used to be an Epic as well. You will want to go there. If you go through the Louisville, Kentucky area, obannon woods, at the Corydon, Indiana exit is great too. Lots of natural root and rock features and some jump lines. Some machine made trails too. It isn’t very far from brown county state park.
It's a double-edge sword. Riding videos generally look better when you're following someone. Plus, GoPro video can distort how close you actually are to someone until you're right on top of them. So it's always tough to be close enough to get the trail features on video, but not so close you run into them.
I always (in every video) think that Brian is riding WAY too close to the ones he's following. It's stupid, but I guess he does that for the footage ...
I was there last year and part of that trail was closed down I was pretty bummed. Awesome you guys got to ride it though it's definitely a killer trail.
What a great looking trail, love it when you get those endless ribbons of singletrack that you can going off into the distance, great vid Brian, thanks for sharing
I was stationed there when I started mountain biking, if you’ve got the time you guys should hit either Fancy Creek, Manhattan River Trails, or Switchgrass. All fun and gorgeous trails.
Glad to see you made it to Wilson Lake. I was there a couple of years ago and was shocked at how legit the ride was. Hopefully you got to bit Grandmas Soda Shop!
where my bike career began in grad school at KSU! And the Lake where my wife and i camped when she was 9mos pregnant and 50mph winds kicked up at midnight almost taking our tent and yellow labvoer a bluff and into Lake Wilson below!
There are some good trails by us we have prairie spirit trails, and lehigh portland trails very beautiful. Kansas is very diverse and beautiful expecially when you get off the interstate.
I’m from Kansas but have never been there, looks great! Much of the state is very flat, but there’s some really steep hills in areas, especially near Manhattan. I’ll have to visit there sometime.
I have a tip for you BKXC. I love the videos, but as a part of the 50 state shred, could you put the name of the state in the thumbnail? This would make it easier for viewers to find their state.
I was out there like June 12-14 on a kayaking trip to rocktown. It was sooooo windy for both nights I was there. Saturday into Sunday was by far the worst. Awesome video I'm glad I found your channel!
Dude come to wyoming!!!! I can guide you on over 100+ miles of amazing single track in the cheyenne wy area! Srsly im a mech at our bike shop here in town and Ive rode here my whole life! Promise the trails and scenery will blow you away!
Free place to stay in Charlotte, NC! I live minutes from the U.S. National Whitewater Center. Missed you last trip when Alexander got hurt. Glad to see you back on the road!
Hey man great videos, been watching you for like a month now you motivated me to get a mountain bike didn’t even know I liked it until I saw you doing it, I live in New York, two weeks ago I started looking for the best deal for my money on an entry level mountain bike so I decided was going to get a 2021 trek Marlin 6 Radioactive red, couldn’t get any no where in New York because of all the shut downs and COVID-19 so I started making calls out a state, I called Landry's bicycles in Boston they had the Exact bike I wanted the only one left ordered it on the phone, drove 6 hours round trip for that bike. 🚲🇺🇸🇯🇲
Wow, Brian, you surprised me with this one. I see Kansas pop up and I'm like WTF. I had to look it up and it is only like 4 hrs from me in Lincoln, NE. This place looks rad. I kept thinking how it reminded me of Utah or Arizona trails with all those rocks (add grass and minus cactus). I might have to make a trip down there to check it out. Glad to see you and Sara back on the road getting after it. SE Nebraska soon!?!?!
Hey, I love watching your channel and I've just been getting into mountain biking over the past several months. Sarah seems pretty awesome and is an amazing rider. I was wondering if she has a channel or if she would be willing to show what she uses for gear and clothing for us ladies.
Great vid. This is your old format of riding and talking giving impromptu commentary of the history of the state. I love that. Having Sarah as your riding partner is like icing on a cake. Your end credits of speeded up travel with the music, is pure genius... it also needs to be on your lead in... just saying..... The idea of MTB trails of USA by state, I can see you do. It's a long term project, however, having a BKXC trail recommendation app that takes the person to the actual video reference and to trail forks you did would be outstanding. Your legacy is assured.... Your world view MTB trailage would have to be added... just say'n Don't let that girl get away... life will run past you all to quickly.
Looks legit. I really dig seeing other options in the region. Going from Flagstaff to southern Sierras as my back yard I really struggled to adapt my riding style coming to the midwest. Sugarbottom and Beverly is quite a change from Buffalo Park and Keysville. Gravel biking has saved my sanity from repeating loops on the same small sample of singletrack.
Always have the bike on the danger side when pushing up a cliff..that way if it goes bad u lose the bike not your life ... fantastic footage as usual Brian !!
I grew up in the West Hartford, Avon, Canton area. Started riding in the Reservoirs on Talcott mountain in the late 80's as a kid. Did plenty of maint days and worked to get some of the areas towards New Hartford open to riders. Still have family there but haven't had my bike there in a long while. Hope you are enjoying the hills wherever you are in the state!
I knew you'd do Switchgrass!! It's such a unique trail compared to anything else in Kansas. What you get in KC is very different from there, but both are great
I grew up in Lawrence, Kansas where the University of Kansas is. Lawrence was the sight of one of the worst raids from the confederate militia groups in Missouri. Around the 3 minute mark you talk about Kansas becoming a free state, well my high school is actually called Lawrence Free State High School to commemorate that history. This is also the basis for KU vs Mizzou rivalry. Just a little tid bit from a Kansan!
I've been to Hayes Kansas for a soccer tournament. All I remember is that the soccer fields were full of wasps and the Holiday inn had a salt swimming pool.
This is the first trail I learned to mountain bike on. Holds a special place in my heart.
Looks like a great place for learning
joey troesken kinda there is some pretty ballzy pieces that my mountain biking coach would not even take and would not let us take
Joey, there are many places that I still get off and walk my bike around.
Dylan Moore yes it’s an amazing place it’s so beautiful when the sun sets and your out riding
It’s most likely going to be for me too! I’ve never gotten to ride anything that is fun or made for biking. Salina doesn’t have those types of things anymore. Not even the old roller rink. Ah but who cares; we-well just the dad of a dude I met at work-invented the pop-a-shot!
Kansas welcomes you! We were glad to have you.
Damn, didn’t know Kansas was so beautiful
Good to know outsiders see that. I don’t anymore except at the lakes lol
The secret is to just get off the interstate and hit the back roads. But I feel this way about any state really.
Exactly people drive across the interstates in the Midwest and think they know how the other 99% of the state looks like.
I love how all of the 50 State Shred videos have contained Brians's history class!
John

Love the channel and I am enjoying watching your US tour. I am riding locally only so I am living vicariously through you guys. Ride hard brother.
This is my state! Yay! Waving as you guys roll past! So glad you checked out our favorite park!
I love watching your videos on my resting days. Feels like active recovery.
Running a trail race here October 1! Nice footage of the course! Can't wait to watch your videos! I'm running 50 states! This year I did Kansas and Utah! Next Year is the JFK 50 mile in Maryland and a nude 5k in Texas!
Great video!! I ride those trails every time I’m back home in Kansas. Flow , fast, incredible views, rock features, cliffs, clear water. Has it all!!
Well sounds like you had some fun in my state. Glad you enjoyed it and come back any time, lots more great riding for you to explore.
I love waking up and watching some sick vids by bkxc
I agree, that first 10mi looked lots of fun and still very challenging.
Lovely camp ground.
Great vid, on to the next.
Wow Kansas is cooler than I thought! Thanks for making these great videos they really show how in any state you can just get out and ride! 👍
I always get hyped when you 2 jump in the water and then I remember that only Florida notes that any body of water may/can have a gator in it.
Absolutely have to agree with you Brian, from all I saw, that was an awesome trail, doesn't always have to be hard charging DH to be fun, definitely my kind of thing as well, loved the part right on the edge next to the lake.
Wow that’s quite the spot! Need more of this EVERYWHERE
My brother moved to Wichita. So flat. He showed my where the kids sled in the winter; It was an embankment for an overpass. Looks like that was worth the trip . Would've never thought of that in Kansas. Thanks for bring us on you're adventure .
That trail along the river is absolutely gorgeous
I hope you’re heading east to Kansas City! 250+ miles of trails within the metro!!
I'm in topeka and need to go to KC and ride those trails. I was thinking the same thing so many other places that have great trails in Kansas. I was told that Wilson is an epic ride.
You deserve to Hit 1 Million Subs & more! Thnks for bringing us with you!
Good to see you back on the road Brian. Kansas looked like a good stop on your 50 state shred. Happy Trails Buddy.
Lived in Kansas my whole life never knew this was even there thanks for showing me
The stuff around Kansas City is great too.
Love your videos. You have inspired me to ride my trails across Wales and watching your videos make me want to do it more. Really inspiring
Wilson state park is fucking awesome. I stopped here twice on my cross country road trip. In a vast sea of nothingness, this place is a damn emerald city. Great place to stop when you’re headed down I-70

Nice!
Nice bud! KC has some awesome riding. Chunky and delicious. Was more than pleasantly surprised.
Love your videos and the variety of riding you do.
The best thing about your 50 state shred Videos is actually the outro :D
I’m glad you enjoyed KS! My wife is from Wichita. I lived there from 96-2012 when we moved here to Cocoa, FL by the Space Center. It’s never calm, always windy there. Loved the video. Great way to showcase my home state, and MTB! Thank you, BKXC.
Wind sucks! I love seeing all the new views on views each state visit brings.. Its fun to see the 50 staye shred! Firefly's are mesmerizing! 😁
Wilson is fun and your video was great but I really hope you got to ride some other places in Kansas on the East side of the state, so many cool trails! I just found your channel and am really loving it!
I was here just a couple of weeks ago. I live closer to Kansas City, so it was a bit of a drive, but it was so worth it.
When I rode this trail for the first time, I was blown away by the rocks and the lake side trail. Such an awesome trail. We always ride this trail on the way to Colorado.
Watched back in Winnipeg, trip over but planning the next. Take care stay safe and have fun
Fun place to ride and nice little weekend getaway from KC. I figured this is where you would ride in Kansas.
So Sara is totally fine with how closely you ride behind her? I feel like you had that snap-back coming. LOL ;-)
he charging through everything as usual lol nothing gonna stop him 🤘🏻
I couldn't watch the whole video because of that issue.
He’s going full try hard mode on her. A bit awkward for sure.
It's a double-edge sword. Riding videos generally look better when you're following someone. Plus, GoPro video can distort how close you actually are to someone until you're right on top of them. One of the best I’ve seen. And man Sarah can ride so well. When I get out there, Kansas is on the list!!! Thanks Brian. You’re energetic as ever.
I was there last year and part of that trail was closed down I was pretty bummed. Awesome you guys got to ride it though it's definitely a killer trail.
Vids are getting better and better 👍 Really enjoy the history lessons too 🤘
BKXC is always good for a history lesson!
Reminds me of my local California trails, beautiful but rocky and up and down the whole way, I love it
That trail is amazing. I wish I was closer to it.
Glad to see you made it out to Kansas. Over in southeast Kansas we have some stupid steep double black diamond trails.
What a great looking trail, love it when you get those endless ribbons of singletrack that you can going off into the distance, great vid Brian, thanks for sharing

Epic video like always. A must try from East Harlem NYC. If you ever want to ride in NYC I could show you some good trails for sure. Peace and love...
Great timing! I might be there in a couple weeks, couldn't find much footage of the place
After a sweaty ride on a hot day, jumping into the lake would be priceless...
This channel is becoming addictive
Dude come to wyoming!!!! I can guide you on over 100+ miles of amazing single track in the cheyenne wy area! Srsly im a mech at our bike shop here in town and Ive rode here my whole life! Promise the trails and scenery will blow you away!

Beautiful! I've ridden camp horizon in Arkansas city , ks. A very fun trail also.
So funny, as you came across the dead vulture, it cut to a KFC advert!!!!!! Chicken of the prairie ! Enjoying the series ! Great stuff!!!
Looks like a good place to pick up stickers- the puncture type.

Check out Dusty Betty for woman's specific MTB videos.
& Gowaan Gals, those girls have so much crazy fun!
Good stuff as always!
I never considered Kansas on a bike, thinking it was just flat. But that was a trail to keep my interest.
Reminds me of riding around reservoirs in Jamestown ND

Awesome video Brian, loving the 50 state shred

Al's Chickenete in Hayes is EPIC CHicken! I drive between Chi and Colorado Springs and make the trip off the road for Al's if possible.
Always have the bike on the danger side when pushing up a cliff..that way if it goes bad u lose the bike not your life ... fantastic footage as usual Brian !!
I ride switchgrass regularly, also Shady bend in Osborne is a short fun trail.
Glad you enjoyed my state!
That looks like a decent trail for sure! great video as always, thanks for the inspiration
Brian, great review of the trail. My grandson and I DID stop to swim along the way.
The wind is just nature's ERG mode Brian! :)
Looks like a beautiful trail!
I'm still just amazed that the audio sounded so good considering how windy it was. Is it just me? 😂
cant wait for you to do Connecticut! That is where im from and I work for my town building trails for the community MTB riders!
I knew you'd do Switchgrass!! It's such a unique trail compared to anything else in Kansas. What you get in KC is very different from there, but both are great
I’ve never mountain biked before but you make it look like such a blast. Gotta git into it!
I'd love to see the BKXC epic ride list!
Lmao, there is always turtles on this trail. Glad you could experience Wilson. I’m going to ride it tomorrow.
That's a nice view Bryan!
I envy his lifestyle, a Dodge mini van his bike and just driving and riding ......what else can you ask for !!!
That’s awesome Brian! I can’t wait till you hit Minnesota since I’ve lived there for 4 years. 👍🏻👍🏻
I've been to Hayes Kansas for a soccer tournament. All I remember is that the soccer fields were full of wasps and the Holiday inn had a salt swimming pool.
That wasn't salt, that was human sweat.
