I stayed with the Kisauo Bob family in Nomwin on three trips: 1985/86, 1987, 1989, and with my wife on our honeymoon in 1990. Kisauo and his wife Pauline ran a small store on the jetty/dock. I have such wonderful, happy memories of my visits there. I have a traditional boat model that was made for me by a man named Alita who was a boat builder. I did a little teaching at the old school, substituting for a teacher who had to go to Moen. The new one looks great! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful video! The baby bird is an albatross. They are commonly used as pets throughout the outer islands of the whole Micronesian islands. Thoroughly enjoy all of your videos. Why didn't your husband accompany you?
Oh! An albatross! Thank you for letting me know. I had no idea they were pets, just catching injured chicks and tethering them. He stayed home because if we both went tripping, there would be no one home.
It seems to be decided that way by the municipality. Some people have said it's because people have been bitten in the past, but I'm not sure if this is correct information.
Beautiful island and most importantly, beautiful people. Not gonna lie, people from nomwin are probably one of the most humbling and loyal individuals out there. One love nomwin. ❤️❤️❤️
