Paul, you really know how to tell a great story. I enjoyed this immensely. As I listened to your tale, I wondered if you're the same clown I wrote about on Facebook in 2011? It might have been an earlier year I reposted. I went back to my old post to see what I wrote to my friend (I called him up after seeing an angry clown in front of my house. As an artist, I knew he could relate). Here's what I wrote: Marv, this is the trash that angry clown, the one I told you about tonight, threw on my lawn... after kicking clumps of dirt with his massive clown shoes and slamming his car door. I posted a photo of the trash the clown tossed out of his car (two balloons and In and Out fries and drink containers) onto my San Fernando Valley suburban ranch lawn. To my friend Marv, I wrote. This photo is deep, if you think about it... the tossing of the balloons. With that statement, this angry clown was saying: "Enough humiliation, I'll never blow another balloon, toot another horn, squirt seltzer down my pants, I'll keep my dignity." Or not. Or maybe it's a normal clown affliction: anger from forced joy. Anyway, you weren't alone in your clown anger. Thanks for sharing that story.
Hahaha, amazing! I’d love to report that you finally tracked that angry clown down, but that unfortunately wasn’t me, just another frustrated clown. I was doing that around 2007/2008 I think, but even if your 2011 post was a re-post of an old story, I didn’t wear big clown shoes, just red Converse (like the story says, I wasn’t a very committed clown), and I would never throw trash on someone’s lawn even on my most frustrated days.
