Jo Neath (A sport science student from Blackpool, Lancashire but originally from Crewe, Cheshire) as a stand by.
20:15 formidable strength from Nightshade.. Lifted Jo off her feet and threw her down like a sack of potatoes 😍😂😂 Biggest surprise was how good Shadow was in Hang Tough. Gladiators was never the same without him on the show.
I was rooting for the horse lady being a horse rider myself, but when someone comes in 3/4 the way through the competition fresh as a daisy, they obviously have the advantage.
I heard Pyramid was super dangerous and ended Jet's time on the show. Seeing it for the first time, I can absolutely see why. Way too much potential for injury given the course is a giant staircase.

Cobra's disqualification was a good call, but I agree with John Sachs, I think Phil should've been disqualified. This is one of those rare moments where mr. Anderson made the wrong decision by disqualifying Hunter when in reality Phil was pulling him down.
People talk about Pyramid and Tilt's unsafety, but Joust was kind of a graveyard in itself. 2 contenders pulled out due to injuries they suffered up there and I don't know how many landed awkwardly when they fell.
I'm surprised no one broke their neck on the pyramid! It's essentially throwing someone down a flight of stairs! Cobra ended out having a double hip replacement in later years.
I can see what they were going for with it; it really tests a lot of your physical ability, dexterity and the rest of it. But in execution it was a bit silly

Rachel's Joust injury would ultimately result in the event being scrapped, as it was only played two more times afterwards (once in the first International Gladiators and once in Series 4).
I get the feeling after Rachel Accident in Joust they had to make the Skybikes respond to a certain pattern rather than make it look like they've got a mind of there own like in Series 2

I remember this being shown as a repeat many years ago and it was a shame that Rachel had to withdraw before Hang Tough because I think if she did fall off she could have made the injury worse and she wouldn't have been able to participate in the Eliminator which meant Jo Harrington would have gone through if Jo Neath hadn't been drafted in as a substitute contender.

Awesome eliminator in the men's competition. Phil came from behind to win. You have to commiserate to Ken, he had a 3.5 second head start to lose the eliminator 10 seconds behind. I have seen some great come from behind on American Gladiators, that was a good one
Both myself and my family felt exactly the same when this was the case, but sadly as in life the circumstances can be really cruel indeed, but the Contenders & General Public have to learn to accept these kind of fates and battle on regardless!

What was the point of disqualifying both Gladiators in Pyramid when they have nothing to play for but pride, whilst the difference in scoring for the contenders remains the same?
To apply the rules equally, to show that the Gladiators will be disqualified if they foul although in this case I felt Hunter and Cobra were both harshly treated.
If you're unfit to do any event that occurs prior to the Eliminator for any reason, then you're out of the competition and replaced by your stand-in. Simple as that, I'm afraid. May not seem fair, but those are the rules.
To think that Rachel could have gone on to become the overall ladies female champion if it had not been due to her back injury that she sustained in Joust the game before hang tough where she was supposed to be facing lightning

@@visionist7 I'm from the UK there's plenty of people here who know the confederate flag has unpleasant connotations but yeah that's possible...it's not a flag you'd expect to see here much although a couple of rock bands featured it on clothing back in the late 80s which normalised it for a while just like dukes of hazard did.
