Actually the reason why tomioka is so depressed is that when he was younger his father and mother died due to illness and only him and his sister survived which was tsutako tomioka. Their parents left a good sum of money for them to survive and tsutako was going to marry but the day before her wedding a demon entered the house to kill her and giyuu but tsutako ended up sacrificing herself to save giyuu and when giyuu was searching for help in the town no one believed him they thought he was “crazy” and when giyu was running away he almost died in the mountains but was rescued by urukodaki (the person who trained tanjiro) and became his apprentice but surprisingly there was another boy his age there and his name was Sabito (the dead boy with pink hair) he and sabito trained to the test but sabito was stronger and had much more talent than giyuu. And one day giyuu talked about his sisters death and he said “it would’ve been better if I hadn’t survived” then sabito slapped him for berated him for making a negative statement about his life, something that would be considered an insult to his sister given her sacrifice. And the final selection started when sabito was going around killing demons with ease giyuu on the other hand was struggling and he had almost died but sabito who encountered the morphed demon gave giyuu to another person and sent him to recover and by the time giyuu recovered the selection was already over and sabito had died and because of that giyuu doesn’t think of himself as a hashira only a person who was saved by another person more talented than himself

Sure! It’s the only thing of her own Kanao has, taking the last name Kocho *would* look and sound better, however Kanao is still learning to make decisions for herself. She’s her own person and taking the last name would make her into something she wishes she was- but technically isn’t. Kanao is one of a kind and without her original last name she’d just be “the youngest butterfly sister”

So, about the first meme, I gotta say, I don’t know anything about demon slayer, never seen it, but that’s really cool.
That flower is a real flower called Lycoris Radiata. It’s a common flower in Japan and it blooms a lot near cemeteries. This is why it is called « the flower of the dead » and is said to have been cursed by the goddess of the sun. It is said that offering this flower to someone can kill them and that this flower blooms along the path leading souls towards hell.
So, yeah, it’s a hell of a bad omen, and I think the use of that symbol in anime is really nice
This might give you a spoiler for the anime and but definitely a lot of spoilers for the manga so heads up
The flower is actually a key to the demon king in the anime which is the enemy, demons can't go in the sunlight and the demon king as well he couldve if only he didn't kill the doctor who made him into a demon the demon king needed the flower which is the Lycoris Radiata in order to be able to concour the sun though the only thing I'm confused about is that in the translated version in the manga it's called Blue Spider Lily though then again the translation may only be on the site where I read it
