I'm not sure if you're aware, but that truck actually gives a +5C ambient temperature bonus on top of the already warm interior of the barn, and then even without a bedroll, sleeping in it gives another +3C, for a combined total of +8C, on par with the warmest beds in the game.
Now this is the top 5 locations in PV region that i could 100% agree on. Centralized location in PV is extremely important especially in higher difficulty when fog or blizzard is coming because you can trace all indoor location by walking through the main road, or trailing snowy road along those central area. Even though maybe prepper cache, radio hut control and thomson's crossing seems like those three can be put on ranking 3,4 and 5 based on the playstyle preference, i love that you mentioned like another point of interests that connects those locations which gives a reason as to why a player needs to go there. Such as in thomson's crossing there are a lot of houses that could be scavenged and/or to pick some quick indoor woods, prepper cache with easy access to crashed plane site, carter's ridge and TWM region, and radio hut control with some outdoor caves and easy access to ML region and Blackrock region. Love the video! 👍

It's difficult to make a list that caters to all playstyles, and my own decisions are admittedly based largely on aesthetics, so I'm glad you mentioned that the rankings can differ based on playstyle! And thanks! I love your ability to completely block roadways, forcing people to find alternate routes or learn to play the flute! :{D
There is a better rope shortcut into the radio hut near the bear cave down below. The climb is much shorter, and you can also parkour down the wall if you need to.
Nice, good point! I will usually go that direction but then creep up the hill beside the cliff to avoid climbing the ropes, so I admittedly don't have much experience on either! Plenty of experience parkouring down cliffsides though. It comes in handy sometimes for sure.

Prepper's Abandoned Cache is #1. It's not even close. Workbench, outdoor burn barrel, lots of storage, lots of wood, rabbits around the corner at the park, deer and sometimes a bear around the corner by the hunting blind. The only downside is that it's dark at night. Not a problem. 10/10 The inaccessability of signal hill, the lack of a bed in the outbuildings, and the distance from wood at the farmstead put the PAC at the top easily.
Another benefit to the Pleasant Valley Farmstead is that it's quite close to Keeper's Pass. Which means if you run out of ammunition, Blackrock Penitentiary is not that far away.
even if it's far from fishing, the homestead is still the real estate. the trek to the fishing spot is quite easy to navigate and generally safe. the trek also doesn't take whole day and you can use car on the bridge on the way to fishing spot as either bed if it's too dark or storage space on the trunk.

I just started playing this game. I spawned in Mystery Lake (forgot why) in survival mode. I found my way to Carter Dam but being unfamiliar with the place and mechanics, I accidentally exit at lower dam and couldn’t get back in. I followed the river and somehow found my way through the caves and exited through Pleasant Valley. I survived the night in Radio Tower bunker without much to live on. The Farmers Homestead was the second place I went to in the morning. Before watching this video I didn’t realize it’s a jackpot. Thanks for this video, such a life saver. Subscribed 👍🏼

Nice video and great narration + cuts. For me the number 2 slot behind the main farmstead house is always the intact house opposite the community hall. As you didn't mention it , I checked and apparently it is technically a randomised location i.e not always intact depending on rng - I'm assuming that's why you didn't mention it. In every run I've ever played (both pre and post update) there has been 1 specific green coloured single story house with the Canadian flag , across the road from the community centre. This house has a standard layout and single cooking spot pot belly stove, however what makes it notable is the ambient air temperature inside is several degrees warmer than the community hall; it also has a proper bed as opposed to the sleeping bags of the hall. On interloper difficulty, while the community hall tends to have an air temperature of 0C to negative 3C , the house has a temperature of +1C- 3C ; as a result if you spawn in Pleasant valley or reach it with minimal clothing, you're better off 'living' in the house and using the community hall for cooking trips due to its 6 spot stove. Also a shame that the prepper's caches are no longer in the game at present, might be worth mentioning that to new players as it invalidates number 5 on this list. Hopefully they'll be added back in by Hinterland soon. EDIT: just seen the upload date of this video, is the PV cache still there? I'd heard they'd all been removed?
Nice! Those are good notes! I would probably do the same, providing the house is intact, because I'm a big fan of the homey ambience of course. And yeah, the Preppers Abandoned Cache is still there! I assume since it's a separate location from the randomized prepper caches it wasn't affected. (The footage was taken post update btw.) I'm super bummed about the prepper caches too. atm i stumbled on this region. i came in where ur vid started. i didnt even know that bunker had a bench lol.. to dark... staying at #3 spot atm. found the barn, didnt see the farm stead yet. i got so much loot, yet to find a single gun. i got this game cause youtubers i watch play. and big xmas sale. so i not going in 100% blind. but still no compass, or map persay. unless u carry enough charcoal. hard for me to get around. i think i going north, only to charcoal the map and seei went wrong way lol. now i learned dropping sticks etc always pointsame direction so i can do better now.

When I started playing I refused to use maps, but I would watch videos for tips and the like. After I felt that I got to know the region pretty well, I would allow myself to look up things in more detail. So it's exciting to explore the new regions completely blind again! And make sure to look behind tables, under beds, anywhere and everywhere when you're looting! Stuff spawns all over the place! (And on higher difficulties it can be life-saving.)

Hold up, so you are saying Signal hill beats the Abandoned Prepper Cache? One factor you forgot is that how many times will you come back to visit. The cache is always a main base for me because I travel often to Timberwolf Mountain. I put the radio tower a little bit higher than Three Strikes Farm. Once you visit and loot there is little reason to return.
I kinda wish I didn't spoil this region for myself, though I almost certainly NEVER would have found the cache on my own. Currently I'm basing in the Farmstead, because for an apocalyptic game, it has a very opulent feel to it. I'm just wondering if I can expect to find anything similar or better as a base, just in terms of aesthetics.
No surprises here. the top locations are pretty much universal to all TLD players, even if personal taste or specific needs will reorder the preferences a bit, they're all pretty much a reordering of the same 5 spots.
That's why I'm here! :{D That's unironically a great idea if you can't dig a hole. Imagine forgetting where you buried it in the snow and then a wolf pushes you into it!
I like the prepper cahces despite them being way to dark, nice bunker safe from the blasted wolves and bears. I like the way you just go straight into the info without mucking around :) way to many 1 or 2 minute long intros wasting time
I'll certainly have to redeem myself in the next toilet-filled map, eh? And that's a good point, a single pot-belly stove is a lot different than the 6-burners so I should have noted that. The presence of a 6 burner stove and/or workbench always dictates Where you'll be calling "home". Theres only one building that gives you easy access to both, so theres only one realistic base location in Pleasant Valley.
If you don't really care about being Kinda in the corner of the map the community center is still a great place to set up. Especially if you consider all the firewood you get from inside the surrounding houses. 🪵
Oh wow I totally forgot about hay sleeping! I believe you can also sleep on hay in the little shack by the Pleasant Valley Farmstead (near the road). Thanks for pointing that out! :{D
I'll do my best! After the few regions I've done, Forlorn Muskeg is probably my next favourite map. Only partly due to the word "muskeg" being fun to say.

I'm back! I didn't produce as much as I'd hoped over the holidays, but I think this year is going to be a good one for the channel! :{D

Community hall is underrated has a cabinets with 200kg storage making all your storage easy to organise

I built mini bases in each of these 4 places
