"Fabulous stuff... Thanks for the tour of Chatham Dockyard, chaps.. You have inspired me to pay the place a visit, next time I happen to be down in the part of Kent. The County of Kent - a beautiful county, if ever there was.. All the best.. :) "
As a former US Army office i had a tour aboard a submarine tender once. Darn good video.. love the fest. {House of the rising sun music in the background}.,.. love the details,
I do remember the dockyard when it was still navy owned, my uncle often took me down to visit his nuclear submarine he was chief cook on there and I was there when they were cutting up HMS Triumph prior to scrapping and was given a chunk of her flight deck by one of the workers there. I do also remember a great time when my other uncle who was a train driver from Hoo Jnc was tasked with picking a train up from the docks and we went down the naval line in his class 33 loco and remember getting given a huge enamel mug full of thick navy tea and being made a fuss of by the navy staff cos they knew me uncles and I told them about me granddad and other relations who were all ex navy.
You did make me laugh calling the Destroyer a boat...... it's a ship... lol. Great video of chatham and the place looks like a great day out, tons of history. I'm in Liverpool so we have the old docks.a place well worth a visit..thanks for the tour..
WW2 destroyers and smaller naval ships from WW2 and to present, eg frigates, in Britain are called boats unofficially too. google "Gimme the boats" for example.
Sorry to be picky, but the only large Naval vessels that are called 'Boats', are Submarines. Everything else is a 'Ship'. I worked as a shipping agent years ago, and incurred the wrath of the ex-Navy master of a container ship by calling it a 'Boat'. He had a very strong opinion on the matter, which I have never forgotten.
bin cheking all am 4 your new vlog lol got hell on earths realy early this am here in the lovely state of Maine naw need to wait 4 the new one from explorer love all the history from u 3 groups thank u 4 sharing with us all
great video guys, I really enjoyed this one, probably because I would also love to live aboard a boat, I didn't know they had toilets on ships lol, is this always open to the public?
To show how unoriginal we are (and of course because of our English roots) we have lots of cities in Canada named after UK cities. We actually have a city called Chatham-Kent here in Ontario. /mildy interesting

Raincoats and rowing... looks like a fun day.
Loved the street band traipsing by in the back ground. Sort of expected Monty Python....... Great vid.
Looks like a great venue for a day trip, lots to do and see 👌👌👌👌
That's really nice that they let folks go through the sub! That was brave taking on the spinny rides after the beer!
A good day out, most definitely. Nice one, gents.
Hey Ian great job on this one! Wow very interesting stuff. I finally got to see what it was like on a HMS ship hehe. Thanks so much for sharing.
A fantastic thought going back in time just as a shadow so you couldn't change anything, like the film Scrooge.

I have worked in the navy a few years after I left the army. I alway's called everything a boat, just to enjoy how upset people got...just too funny .

Thank you so very much, as a former Gunner's Mate, those 16" gun mounts absolutely rock. partial to the Mk 45 5" .54 Cal, gun mount. Hoorah. Go Navy.
sorry but HMS Cavalier would be classified as a destroyer, with 3 x 3 × QF 4.5-inch (113 mm) L/45 guns Mark IV on mounts CP Mk.V. nice.

C'mon guys... HMS Cavalier is a Destroyer, not a Battleship. You didn't show us the comms room, the antennas or the engines, maybe next time.
