As a writer I see a stroke of genuine heroism in Deacon that really sets him apart from Hondo and the others, and it's only seen in the best of police officers. He's driven and dedicated to serving others, even to a personal level, and he has a strong sense of empathy. He's decisive, principled and above all else, brave enough to lay down his life if it means saving someone else (the Dump Truck incident) Even though he falters at times, it doesn't take long for him to find his way back
Deacon is such a great character. I love his Leadership skills and that he's a family man with a wife and kids. He and Annie's relationship is one of my favorite aspects of the show. I love seeing that these dedicated officers have partners who stand just as strong with them as they risk it all every day. Great clips!
