Just picked up my violin after about 7 years of not touching it (apart like 3-4 quick 15 minute sessions trough the years). First I could barely find my finger placements and play in tune, but after about 30 minutes I started to feel surprisingly comfortable with playing again. Eventually I found this piece from my music sheet collection and immediately remembered the song. After a couple minutes of practice to my surprise I could play it trough until the part at 40 seconds of this video somehow convincingly. This was very inspirational for me, as I'd already started to believe that I've lost 90% of my violin skills, but after such a short time I already got almost 50% of that back. I thought I could never come anywhere close to my previous skills, this song gave me such a confidence boost. I'm getting back together with my violin.
I've played this piece a thousand times. It's been my quarantine piece I suppose. I only just mentioned it to my teacher the other day and now I'm gonna play it to her in a few days! Funny thing is, this is the first time I've actually listened to/watched a recording and, as I thought, it bewildered me. however I've just had a go at playing up to speed and trying to make a good sound and omg this is soooo fun to play!!! I can play relatively in tune because I've tried the piece so many times so I can focus more on my tone, vibrato and just plain enjoying it and I absolutely love it. Kudos do this violinist she did and incredible and flawless job 😊👏👏
I’m currently practicing this for my audition into the music program at the college I want to go to. I watch this video almost 3 times a week and still have only learned up to about the 2 minute mark. I have a little over a year to practice before my audition and currently I’m feeling hopeless 😅 I feel like I can’t play the violin well enough to even be considered and it’s stressing me out haha. Don’t know what I’m looking for through commenting I just wanted to share I guess haha
Was just reading through the comments and now I'm curious since this was a year ago lol. How did it go? I hope chu got into the school you wanted^^ as a music major myself I'm how stressful auditions can be, so I hope all is well
@correction5742 Actually, in Australia It's AMEB Grade level is Grade6. It's not that hard to learn the notes, but to master the musicality the way you did? Good Job! I loved it!
@mmj1678 Okay i think we can all agree that the grade of this piece is different depending on which country/state you are in. I played it for my sixth grade violin exam two weeks ago so i think we're both correct.
Yeah... where most three month olds can barely walk and stand, nor do they make violins that small, and is able to type, understand grammar, nor do three month olds have control of their baby fat filled hands to play advanced violin pieces. Oh, and you also have to be able to hear whether things are in tune, and learn years of violin training in three months right after birth. Yep, totally.
Yes we can all tell that you are three months old, especially by your amazing grammar, I mean can’t all babies spell better than I could when I was six.
My teacher sent me this piece to study and it doesn’t sound that hard, but I know it will probably be harder than it looks or sounds. 😂 but I just got done learning die biene and I hated that piece sooo much, I didn’t even finish it, I can play it through at a low speed but not the way it’s suposed to be played. Me: Reading all of the comments saying that they learned this piece when they were 11/12. I’m 18 and going to play this piece, but also I grew up learning via the Suzuki methode and switched teachers, so I think it’s just what you get from your teacher I guess.
@divyarandom99 I mean grade 6 as in violin examination grades, not schooling grades! i thought you meant what exam grade was the piece, not what year is she in?
Hey, back again. I've been practising very hard on this piece and when I look back on this video I realize that it lacks emotion and ritardandos, but I don't mean to be harsh.
Hi, i've been using your video to practise this piece. I uploaded my try to my youtube account but I still need a lot of practice! Thank you for sharing!
Whitefall the grades they are referring to are with music and have no correlation with the American school grades. I just finished my freshman year of high school and am quite advanced but only play at a level 8
well actually.... I'm taking 7th grade Trinity this year and at first I thought I could play heaps better than this but when you think about it always sounds different to other people than yourelf :P So yeah I'm not going to underestimate this piece.

@divyarandom99 I mean grade 6 as in violin examination grades, not schooling grades! i thought you meant what exam grade was the piece, not what year is she in?
I am playing it today for music school ending. So stressed
@111caityjane111 its actually a level 5- i played it last year for NYSSMA (in NY)
How do I do the second to last note's harmonic? damn, it's hard.
Place a first finger on the E string and a 4th with lighter weight on. Then, when you get to the e string, put less weight on your bow.
Look up artificial harmonics
Hey, back again.
I've been practising very hard on this piece and when I look back on this video I realize that it lacks emotion and ritardandos, but I don't mean to be harsh.
Alice Luise I agree
Polish music is just cold, that's how we like it. It fits our weather splendidly!
It’s eastern europe. What do you expect?
