Love this song. Love Ola Gjeilos music. Listening to this helps me to pray. Prayer helps me to feel things through Christ. To understand the beauty of Christ's compassion.
This song means so much to me... we sang it in choir the first time my freshman year and I was so sad we would never get to perform it again, but then two years later at my first time singing with the All State choir we sang this song and I was overwhelmed with emotion... That’s when I knew I wanted to sing through all my life.
Pleni sunt caeli et terra gloria tua. (Heaven and earth are full of Your glory.) Osanna, osanna in excelsis. (Hosanna, hosanna in the highest.) Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini. (Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.) Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, (Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world,) Dona nobis pacem. (Grant us peace.)
There is a deep touch in the photos with this song, especially in the age of dispute we are facing. We are so eager to make peace to reconcile. No judgemental, just hearing from God, to love people, to love neighbor.
This is an extremely talented young man. I would put him up there with all of the greats. His music is awesome. I am 80 and sang with an Episcopal choir for 32 years. Would love to still be able to sing those high notes. God Bless You All.
This song is one of my favorites to sing. It's perfectly in my range as a baritone. Beautiful. It feels like your gracefully falling from the heavens to a bright sunny day.
our highschool choir did this song this year. this song is absolutely beautiful. our director and a number of students (includong myseld) started to tear up on stage
My choir has the honor of being able to sing this at Carnegie Hall next week, Hopefully we make Mr. Gjeilo proud :) love this song and all his compositions
What an amazing song! This particular performance is so good, words can’t even begin to describe the pure joy, jubilation and serenity of the piece. One of Gjeilo’s best works along with Tundra and Northern Lights (in my personal opinion)
the piece i was most excited to do for my last concert in my high school choir. the pandemic took that away and many other things. so nostalgic. breaks my heart.
Thank you Green. For those who are curious, the words here are taken from parts of the (Latin) Mass of the Western Christian liturgy. This is the text, as adapted for Mr Gjeilo's work: Pleni sunt caeli et terra gloria tua. Osanna, Osanna in excelsis. Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini. Benedictus qui venit. Osanna, Osanna in excelsis. Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, Agnus Dei qui tollis peccata mundi, Dona nobis pacem. I wish I were singing this at your festival too! Best wishes.
I too heard this song of his first, and bought the Northern Lights CD. I wept thinking about how the earth is, in fact, full of God's glory, from the lowly ant or blade of grass (still unable to be reproduced by modern technology) to the vast oceans and stars. He graciously left his fingerprints everywhere (Romans 1:20).
This song was sang at my wedding. It is one of my favorite songs ever. And I love the musical kickback to "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" Dr. Steven Walker still owes me a Pepsi for guessing that correctly. :-)
Thanks for another outstanding video! When I search for a TH-cam video, I'm always delighted if I find one of yours because the audio is always of the highest calibre, the video always includes eye-catching and relevant images, many of which are original, and the description is engaging and informative and often includes some personal reflections. The choir I sing with has sung several works by Gjielo in the past year including The Ground, which we sang last week at a joint concert with the Choir of Gloucester Cathedral.
Thank you. I completely agree with your sentiments. Maybe there should be a slot in all daily media broadcasts and newspapers entitled: "Today's Happy News" - of which there is an abundance. Alas, this idea will not travel well: it's not "news" - a paradox, perhaps? Warm wishes to you, Anthony.
You are very good and Gjeilo is a truly genius! My choir sang "The Rose" and "Days of Beauty" with new arrangements, both adapting for mixed choir, with male and female voices and making spectacular videos! We were able to reach the same Gjeilo who was thrilled. Write this in the search: you will surely like them! Corale Novarmonia - Days of Beauty (O. Gjeilo) SATB Choir Corale Novarmonia - The Rose (O. Gjeilo)
I hope y 0:42 ou are in agreement with me...the Lord knew we would need to get help from afar to take care of all the injustices...and more lands to conquer, yet...a sure foundation built on the solid rock...JESUS...
I am so glad that this music was created during my life time.

And I hope you can always sing. I am 76 and choral singing is still my anchor.

Una melodia meravigliosa che ci fa gustare un anticipo di Paradiso, non serve commento alle Parole.........
Great!
So beautiful song...

And I love the musical kickback to "Bridge Over Troubled Waters"
Dr. Steven Walker still owes me a Pepsi for guessing that correctly.
:-)
What are you talking about? There is no intentional kickback to Bridge Over Troubled Water. Your teacher was wrong.
