Every McBeatMaker is hard-clipping/soft-clipping and distorting their 808's, but rarely ever using saturation on them, especially good saturators like Kush Omegas etc. Like honestly, although Saturn is multiband etc., I've never really fucked with it's sound too much. Hot take Ik, but there are better saturators out there as far as sound, although with less features. But at the end of the day, sound is more important than more features. Something like the Omega TWK saturates pleasingly, but still retains the low end well, leaving it clean and avoiding mud. Something like the 458a is less clean, but adds very pleasing harmonics and reduces the low end, avoiding mud. Both can sound great on bass though, it's just the context that matters.
