CHRIS -- This is GREAT! WOW! I'll tell all my friends. BUT -- Now you have to build the layout into the next room! Into the living room! Into the bedrooms! All of them! The Kitchen! The garage! And out into the yard and into the street! WOA! Go for it!

I was inspired by the layouts, such as yours, where you can have two trains running together but one is elevated on a straightaway. So thank you for the inspiration!

Chris it's great to see the remodel coming together. Fantastic. Regarding bridges and liftouts. I have a doorway that is spanned by three bridges. My crew and I put off finalizing them as we completed track and benchwork. We anticipated having to work out all kinds of hinges, custom benchwork etc. That is until we came up with the idea of using powerful supermagnets. They are recessed in the subroadbed with round washers on the bottom of each bridge that snap into place on the round magnets. You have to eyeball the alignment when putting the bridges back in, but simple and effective for those unexpected bathroom runs etc. Just be sure to plan where you can set the bridge when you want to leave the walkthrough space open. As always I really appreciate you sentiments for family: your girls, your "Pops" and your grandfather.

What a bunch of work you've put into this expansion!! Nothing but respect as it is a huge amount of work known only to those of us who have built large layouts like this one before. Glad to see that 3rd Rail Yellowstone running with all those Legacy and PS3 locomotives. Mine (which has a black boiler) also has the original Train America Studios/TMCC in it. If I were to just upgrade it to ERR with a Sunset 3rd Rail smoke unit and use the generic articulated sound file, I would get a lot more smoke, deeper chuffs and the whistle (if I'm not mistaken) is actually fairly close to a real Yellowstone unlike that wimpy whistle 3rd Rail put in it so many years ago.
I have four 3rd Rail models which I have either upgraded to ERR or put ERR into it as it was an older model with only conventional operation (and get rid of those old Seuthe smoke units) and one thing I also like to do is add Evans Design fire kit lights after I use a 1/32" drill bit to place hole in the firebox doors, now they look like Legacy models and when you power down these locomotives, the fire goes out just as the smoke units shut down (like Legacy). I save the old Seuthe smoke units since they are great to put in the smoke stacks of a round house or other industrial structure.
I understand that brass models can have Legacy upgrades but they are a pain to work with so I'd be happy to give mine a TASectomy and upgrade it with just an ERR upgrade. Getting back to your layout however, I am a sucker for wide sweeping curves (minimum 120" diameter) but I know that can't always be done (Except for JD's monster build going on.) I hope you guys have a great time this Thursday in York. One day I hope to be able to return. Again, great work Chris!!

Awesome layout. I would put a couple crossovers on the upper double track as well as a ramp to allow trains to get on and off of the upper level so they can get to the yard without having to pick them up and place them on the upper level. I realize some of the larger steam locos would not be able to to take much of a grade difference at the entrance and exit of the ramp track, but small switch engines could at least move the cars up and down. My two pennies!

Well that is a great tribute to your grandfather Chris also don't forget to duck under the bridge when you chase your daughters I'm sure there's two of them that can walk under that with no problem as far as the York train show sounds like there's going to be about several troublemakers there well you guys have a great time there and we'll be anxious to see the video on your

I wish I could make York but the family wanted to go to Busch Gardens instead. You need to have Eric bring one of his awrx locomotives to your layout. I got mine yesterday in the mail, Beautiful colors.

The layout looks amazing! I have one idea for raising up the station, you could put terrain below the station and have the tracks bellow become a tunnel.
