We are required to be baptized in order to become members of the kingdom. The thief was the exception to that rule… well because it’s hard to come down from the cross…. Kinda like death bed people coming to faith. It’s the exception not the standard. Every single conversion in the New Testament was directly followed by baptism. Baptism does not just have one meaning.

If Jesus himself was baptized, then that pretty much says it all. Because he did not need saving. If He was baptized, then we need to follow His example, because of our fallen state. External proclamation of internal transformation through His spirit. This is the Word of the Lord. Praise be to God. However, Ben says, "There is no category in the new testament of a unbaptized believer". But what about the thief on the cross. He was not baptized, but yet a believer. Jesus said to him, "Today you will be with me in paradise." Luke 23:42-43 I believe that we should follow Christ in Baptism, but it is not necessary to complete the transformation to be with Christ eternally. If we are able, then we should follow his example. But if we are unable, it does to change our transformational place in Christ as a believer eternally. We will still spend eternity with Him, to worship Him.
