In the apparel industry the sleeve length is best measured from center back. That gives you room to deduct the sleeve's length from the shoulder width. Because Drop shoulders are wider than your actual shoulder width the drop portion needs to be deducted from the sleeves length. And in a knitted garmet the weight of the sleeve will pull the drop shoulder seam down your arm. When you measure your sleeve length meaure along your arm over the elbow with your arm bent at about 45 degrees.

I know making videos is a lot of work but I don't watch blog type videos so still having the podcast is nice for me because I'm not missing out that way. I support doing what makes you happy

Oh wow you made a great point when talking about the hockey game. Typically my hands get really cold and when they do I can’t knit for long. But I’m just realizing that I use mostly metal needles. I never even thought to change my tools and maybe that would make a difference 🤯😂

I knit the Salty Days Sweater this summer on a knitting cruise - yarn purchased in Iceland, one of the stops. In my experience, there was A LOT of blocking during the making process and subsequent ripping to make it way I’d be happy with it in the end. Lovely to knit on the trip on the ‘salty’ waters and I’m sure my cabin steward was entertained by all the blocking left out. Basically, I ended up with a great-fitting sweater with mixed feelings about the making process.

That Salty Days sweater is a stunner! I'm sure by now it's done but the sleeve would be beautiful without the rib. Like a bell sleeve.

Hi Natalie, Kent and Toaster. Thank you so much for letting us see your amazing journey throughout America. It was amazing. I hope you have a lovely relaxing Christmas and a wonderful New year. I am looking forward to seeing the other yarn tours and also watching Vlogmas. I will be planning to knit my first Christmas socks with christmas yarn from Jokomamo made in Australia. I am from Perth, Western Australia so we will be having a warm Christmas day. Safe driving and Enjoy.

I recently watched a knitting podcast where the knitter asked for the person getting the sweater to get her favorite sweater and measure the distance from cuff to cuff if layed flat with sleeves sideways. Then subtracting the body width and dividing the measurement left by 2. That way she knew how long to make the sleeves.
I would do that if you have a dropped shoulder sweater to measure from. It would give you a good indication on how long to knit the sleeves for both sweaters.
If you don't have one 2 measure from, finish the daft days frist since the sleeves are knit down and then use those measurements for the second cardigan.

I knit the Salty Days Sweater and I knit the sleeves fairly long, too. After blocking they did grow and I think that ripping them back and taking out a couple of inches will be one of my ‘to dos’ in Fix it February.

It is interesting and helpful to me to be able to listen and watch you mentally work through what your plans are for your WIPs! I was "all in" as you talked through your choices in completing your Salty Days Sweater! Can't wait to see and hear about your FO! 🙂❤

Hi Natalie! I personally didn't think the sweater looked too long in the body, but I wonder if you might get the looser fit you wanted if you did a split hem? You'd probably have to rip back the whole ribbing, but maybe not the body itself.
I just knit a drop shoulder design for my son (the Ingrid Sweater Man) and it was hard to get the sleeve length right because where I picked up the sleeve stitches didn't really "drop" until the weight of the sleeve pulled it down! But that design doesn't have lace so thankfully it didn't really grow much after blocking and it was okay in the end.

Love your sweater, it looks great. I was knitting on a Musselburgh Hat while watching Wicked, it went great til I dropped a stitch 😅. Plan to work on it more while watching Red One tonight. OH and Happy Thanksgiving 🍁🦃🍂🍗🍽🥧

Ooooooh I love your vlogmas's. And I'm doing sockmas this year with my first ever pair of socks. (My prediction is a single toe or cuff, before I get in a mess and throw a tantrum)
