Great video idea. Wuthering Heights is also my favorite classic. It always baffles me when people find it romantic though, if you look at it from a romantic perspective it’s more a study on unhealthy relationships definitely not healthy ones at all lol. I just love the gothic atmosphere and the way Emily wrote settings so real you could feel the wind, or smell the air. I only have two copies though a hardcover barnes and noble edition and my original penguin copy like your first one. I read it probably 5 times and then gave it to my sister in law when she married my brother (it is her favorite classic as well). A few years ago she gave it back to me for my birthday with all her thoughts wrote in it and I will treasure it forever.
That’s such a sweet and thoughtful gift! The atmosphere and the descriptions are wonderful. I adore the gothic feel! I think people think it’s romantic because it’s always compared to Jane Eyre or things by Jane Austen and then it ends up letting people down. But I just adore it! I’m glad you do too!
I'm glad I found your video so I know I'm not the only one that keeps buying copies of wuthering heights! It was the first classic I read and I think one of the first books that left me shocked or idk just feeling like that was so intense I love it! I just bought the chiltern classic edition, you've probably seen it, i think its just another beautiful cover :)
Oh that Chiltern is beautiful! I need that in my collection. It is intense and really stuck with me and that’s why I’ve got such fond memories/nostalgia for it! Most people I come across don’t like it at all lol
Yes. I do collect multiple editions of Wuthering Heights. I did a one time give my collection to a charity bookstore because I was moving and getting rid of stuff. I did keep a copy of the Scholastic because it was like the first one I ever had. I even had a couple graphic novels/illustrated classics. Now it seems like I'm starting again and bought the Eichenberg Illustrated 1943 with the lovely wood engravings, which I had previous. I also bought the Penguin Classic Deluxe Edition from 2009. I do like the Thomas Nelson copy you have. Beautiful.
Wuthering Heights ushered me to the beautiful world of Classics so it will always have a special place in my heart. I have several editions of it myself. Your collection is super lovely 😍 really enjoyed this video 💛✨
Book Hunterrr it was one of the books that got me into classics too! Glad you enjoyed the video! And I’m glad to have found another person who enjoys it!
Nikki Stickney just commented on my Wuthering Heights video (of my collection!) that went up today and told me about your vid... subbed!!! :D YAAYYYYY WUTHERING HEIGHTS!!!! I recently re-read it again and my GR review just said, "I just love these jerks." They're trash and it's entertaining af. Ooooh that vintage Modern Library one... ! I have that Arcturus one also. :D You have so many cool vintage ones! Ohhhhh em geeeeeee the Seasons one... !!! I want it so bad... !
I saw you post this! I’ll be watching soon! Great minds think alike! And obviously have great taste 😆😉 I don’t reread it every year but I think I will be in the fall this year since I didn’t in 2019. It’s just a great book to curl up with in the fall I feel like. I wish we would have gotten more novels from Emily. I love the seasons edition! I would never read it or like take it off the shelf though 😆
