    I got a Kestrel 48 based on the completeness of this video. It's hard sometimes to differentiate between different Osprey packs of similar sizes--I was shopping between the Stratos 50, Talon 44, and Archeon 45. And one thing that you didn't mention is that the diaphragm between the main and sleeping bag compartments in the Kestrel 48 is removable, which isn't true for the Stratos 40, and a diaphragm doesn't exist in thr Talon 44. This was what made the decision for me between these Osprey packs.
    Oh, and I pay attention to reviews of outdoor gear more when the review is done outdoors. Kudos on that.

    Just bought one. I actually use hiking bags not for hiking but for my daily bike commute. For the Canadian climate these bags are so durable and comfortable

    So i got this pack a year or so ago. It was between this and the 60. I went with the 48 to prevent over packing and its the best $180 ive ever spent. Its my hiking/bob and its fantastic

      Little smaller than I'm used to but great pack with the right gear and packing strategy!

    Most Osprey have 2 ways to load your water bottle, top or Side. The Side load make it easier to get your water bottle when your walking 🙂

    Love me some Osprey packs! Got the Rook 65 about 6 months ago and I really have enjoyed it backpacking up in the Sierras. Great review! Really enjoy your videos

    Nice review, Chris. I love my Ospray pack (Stratos 36)! Quite possibly the most comfortable pack I've ever owned. It's been great for both day trips and light overnight camping.

      I have a Arcterx 35 or 40L pack I use it for day, 2 -3 day climbs max and it will carry my stove cook gear, climbing gear, rope, tent, pads, ice tools or trekking poles, crampons etc. It's the best pack I have ever owned and hands down beats any other pack maker (I have had many back packs) .

    Just came back from a 4 night/5 days hike with this pack! Bought it 2 years ago. It's very durable, I don't treat it particularly well yet it still looks brand new. But if you can shell out a bit more money I would recommend you the exos line.

      Sounds like a good trip...48L is a bit small but sounds like you made it work. the right tent and sleeping bag would do it

    I just got my first backpack at REI tonight! It's the Kyte 46 which I think is the women's fit of the one in this video. I managed to cram all my stuff in there including a Bear Vault 450. I can't wait to get out and use it!

    Thats a good setup putting the chair on the strap. I was having qualms buying a chair because there's no room inside. I could do it like that.

    I've just noticed the name logo on the front of the backpack differs slightly from the one I have, the backpack in the video has the name in capital letters as well as the "airspace"in the back. Is this a different model therefore? mine has those names in small leters instead

    Hi Chris…Which do you think is better and more comfortable, between the Osprey Kestrel 48 or the Osprey Stratos 50, in terms of features?

    • @basecampchris
      @basecampchris  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the Stratos a lot... but both have good features. If possible compare side by side and see what works best for you.
