  • @jacobsfitnessladder285
    @jacobsfitnessladder285 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +54

    Ive watched Russ his whole career. There are things people dont notice about Russ.
    1. Russ doesnt play well with other ball dominate guards. Sefelosia is a defender. Roberson was a 3 and D player. And Beal isnt ball dominant. Bron is a guard parading as a 3. And Harden is very ball dominant. Thats why things didnt work in the Lakers, Rockets, and Partly Clippers.
    2. Things worked very well for him with the clippers until Harden got there. Again, the issue with a ball dominant guard.
    3. It was common sense to pair him with Jokic. Russ always plays well with bigs. This isnt news. Steven Adams havent been the same since Russ left OKC. And when he was on the Clippers, he made Zubacs and Theis look like Wilt at times. He likely would habe did well with AD but he was always hurt and Bron was there.
    When people thinks hes washed its when he plays with ball dominant guards.

      I’m speaking as a thunder fan from Oklahoma. The first year he averaged a triple double it was needed not just in order to win but to keep the morale of the fans up . We just lost kd and that totally devastated the fan base but when we all realized that he could potentially average a triple double it gave us something to be excited about. So some of that stat padding was necessary and I think eventually he just got good at getting triple doubles to the point stat padding wasn’t required as much. So I don’t mind if he was really stat padding because he still made history and still gave the fans something to watch!

    one thing i will disagree with as a nuggets fan is the comment about having to let russ be russ. the reason why russ starting out rough was because he lost control a lot on drives, turned the ball over, and took bad shots. whether malone or jokic or someone told him to calm down, or whether he just realized himself, he's been playing much smarter, he's fully accepted his role, and he's not trying to do things that aren't quite in his game anymore

    • @justthatguy1808
      @justthatguy1808 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      False. He started off bad because he was getting acclimated to the team in NBA level play and not practice. To be quite honest hes better than Murray and should be the starter and Murray should slide to the 2. As the Russ and Jokic duo is vicious. Russ is nearly avg a triple double as a STARTER in the 8 games he started.

    Not to take anything from Russ, but everyone always plays great with Jokic, he has the ability to elevate anyone he plays with. In the 2022 season during his 2nd MVP he had 11-12 teammates who played significant minutes but were completely out of the league within the next year or 2, yet he carried them to the winning % of a 60 win team in the games he played. I'm sure if you give him Ben Simmons he can have Ben back to looking like a DPOY candidate and allstar.

    Offense is never the problem. Its their defense that is lackluster. They give up too many threes. They can't defend the 3pt line very well this year unlike the past few years. KCPs impact is felt in that regard. They need to solve that problem if they want to win against the likes of Boston, Cavs and OKC

    It worked well for Russ in Clippers until James Harden arrived, and then his role became similar to what his role is in Lakers. Shannon was right about embracing what Russ has to offer, Lakers and Clippers failed to accept that. It didn't also help during his tenure in both LA teams that star players were injured left and right, and nobody talks about that. People just blamed almost all of it to Russ.

    I don't see how anything is going to prevent Jokic from winning another MVP when he's averaging 31, 14 and 9.5 on 54% and 49% from 3! This would put him above Larry Bird, Magic and Moses Malone and in a category with Wilt Chamberlain and Lebron with 4 MVPs. Only Bill Russell and Michael have more than that.

    Calvin Booth should ask Joker who's the player he can get for 2031 1st unprotected, seems like he knows better what he need than GM. Zeke, Šarić and 2031 1st unprotected should be the package. Go and ask the man.

    oh how much it must hurt ESPN and all the haters to have to listen to all the Jokic MVP talk again. it's almost like Jokic has made it his mission to continue to elevate his game so there is no question about who the boss is. the guy that supposedly" "doesn't care" about basketball sure finds a way to continue improving his game in the off-season while it takes Murray half the season to get started.

    I’m convinced sports media, specifically Skip and Shannon, were actively trying to end Russ’ career when he was with the Lakers. Criticism is one thing, but I vividly remember Shannon saying Russ was “the pretty girl you took to prom but got fat” or something crazy like that 😂 They used to be WILD disrespectful and then it stopped the day he went to the Clippers. Shady. Even the props he gave in this video had sprinkles of shade lmao

    Shannon, you were among those who vocally criticized and shamed Russ each night, contributing to the negative sentiment that prompted Lakers fans to make disparaging remarks not only about Russ but also regarding his family. Now, see how he is thriving in Denver. During his tenure with the Lakers, fans, yourself included, unfairly displayed a lack of respect towards Russ and his family. Every defeat the Lakers suffered was attributed to him, to the extent that his career was on the verge of ending had he not departed LAL. Now, you have no choice but to sing his praises.
