like, my brain knows iofi is ID, but when oga mentioned the manager recommending interesting food for foreigners, my brain stopped working for a second wondering who they were talking about.

yeah trying it and it does taste like slightly stronger tauco- but eating it without warm soup is pain for me
But, tauco cuisine actually mix with some vegetable like kangkung (morning glory spinach) right? That's quite different with natto which have sticky like porridge but the smell like expired food 💀
The gross thing about natto is less about the smell and more about the texture, it's like eating chunky slimy snot

When I was an exchange student in Japan before, my professor gave me natto once, it smells weird but doesn't taste bad.
Edit: I guess it's the texture that's off-putting for some people. I didn't mind though.

Just a couple months ago my local groceries had natto in the "imported food" section...
I bought 1 pack 1st just to taste (afraid might be faulty product), then the next day i buy 15 of them, lol.... since they might not becoming a regular item...

Sure enough i never seen natto again till this day.

I’m sure Natto doesn’t taste THAT bad, but the pictures I’ve seen look disgusting
yeah it's just a fermented food. The smell can be a bit off putting but the taste isn't that bad. The texture is egregious though.
As someone who has eaten it almost regularly, I would say it has a bitter and "nutty" taste to it. People are put off with it because of the smell and the horrendous stickiness. It's actually very good paired with tea or coffee. And it's very filling, perfect for those looking for a diet because it's very healthy.
Yopi said that it's not the taste but the texture that make her kinda meh to eat it. (It's few minutes before this clip, when she hv the first spoon before eating ramen)
